Hi ,

The truth is, the only LEGAL hotdog is the what you make yourself

when you know all the ingredients are 100% ok. There are recipes on

the various SCD websites.

I know that sounds harsh, but there is so much we cannot control

about commercially made products. Even when the list of ingredients

looks good and the customer service center promises there is nothing

else added - we don't always know what's going on with the way they

make their stuff, or what their suppliers are doing with the spices,

for example.

So, people on the list ARE using some of the hotdogs on the market

that seem ok in terms of ingredients, but we can't say they are

actually legal. It is a personal choice to try something in this

category and to watch closely for ill effects. It would be like any

other time you add something - only one thing at a time, keep a

journal, and decide if it's ok.

used to love hot dogs, too. I tried the Applegate beef a while

back and decide they weren't doing good things for him (bms got

mushy, child was hyper, etc.). I've heard the turkey ones are a

little less suspect, but again - not officially legal to my knowledge.

Thank you for the great advice. I do not think I will take my chances

and I will attempt to make homemade hot dogs. Have you had any luck

with a certain hot dog recipe, or are all pretty much the same? If

you have a recipe for hot dogs you love, could you tell me which site

you found it on?

,

Marilyn's hot dog recipe is what everyone uses I think.

Hopefully, someone will post it for you. If not, when I get back

later this afternoon, I will do a search for it and post it then.

Once I finally get caught up from being gone, I will get to work on

the recipe updates.
