Guest guest
Help!!! You wouldn't believe what just happened to me today. My husband is out of town for 10 days. I am pretty much ok by myself... or so I thought. I decided to try to bring in the trash barrel, so I got my cane and went out through the garage. I pulled the barrel up the driveway and then to the side and opened the gate. Pulled the barrel into the backyard. I was so proud that I did that without help. Then I took the gate lock, and locked the gate, from the inside. As I turned to go through the backyard to get back in the house through the back door, I realized that before I had left, I had LOCKED the back door. I didn't have the key, nor did I have the key to the gate lock that I just closed.!!!! I was totally locked in my backyard!!!! I just started calling to my neighbor and luckily they were outside and heard me. I have lived next to these people for 10 years and don't even know their names. Anyway, he went to get a ladder for me to climb over the gate ( yeah, that's gonna work). Then I remembered that the garage door was opened and it goes into the house. So I asked him to go into the house and get either the key to the house, or the key to the lock, both of which were sitting on my kitchen counter!!! He did, I unlocked the gate, and was rescued! So I went back into the house, unlocked the back door and went out the back to lock the gate. When I came back into the house I had walked through some mud, so I took off my shoes and washed them. Then I realized I did not have the key in my hand for the gate lock (are you still with me?). I looked everywhere. I can't find it. I am so rattled now I want to cry. I have never been like this. I have always been self suffiencet. I don't know what is happening to me My husband goes away for one day and I am having a crisis. I am safe now, in the house but have no idea where the key to the lock is. I feel like I should tie the keys around my neck like an 8 year old!!!1 Bonnie G - Phoenix
Guest guest
Hi this is June, yes someone should write a book about all these things and I would buy the first copy. My husband has PLS and he has done some funnnnny things, like sneeze and fall backwards into the closet. I asked him if he were to expel " gas " what would happen and he said probably go to the ceiling. He was in the garage and he thought he could stand up for a min. and fell backwards and landed right on his " joy " stick of his electric wheel chair or scooter and was half way down the driveway before he could get his hand down to turn switch off. Guest guest
Bonnie, Your story is funny, but it's not! Funny now that it's all over, and thankfully you are safe. God bless those neighbors. I think you may be suffering from a mild case of CRS. If you don't know what CRS is, someone here will be sure to fill you in on it. The keys will pop up somewhere, probably outside in the keyhole of either the backdoor or the gate. I would do something like that. Just take this all as a lesson. I would bet a lot of money that you'll never do it again. Blessings to you, and you're in my prayers! Laurel Locked Myself Out of the House Help!!! Guest guest
June, I learned a long time ago when ever I stop to do something or anytime I get up from my chair the first thing I do shut of the chair. One time I was trying help Lois do something in the yard. She was right beside the the chair all at once she said don't run over my foot. I told I wasn't doing anything she was the one that was running over her foot with my chair. She got caught on the joy stick. M. L. Guest guest
Many years ago, at Christmas time, I went shopping and when I came out of the store I put my packages in the trunk of the car, then got in the car and couldn't find my keys. I went back in the store and searched everywhere I had been. Rechecked my purse, the ground around the car door, inside the car. Finally, I called my husband and had him leave work to come rescue me. Boy was he mad when he drove up to the car and saw the keys dangling from the trunk lock. I'd checked everywhere but the trunk lock! Boy did I feel dumb!
