I wonder things too..like does everyone work? I wonder why I cant? I can get a job, because Im well spoken, love people and thoughtful...but then I simply cannot get thru the day. I start shaking or becaome dizzy, or cant get good oxygen to my brain, or I sweat like crazy. I can have good, and even great times and hours, but not all day.

Going to the doctor is the same problem. I look "pretty", hip, smart...so the doctor listens to my concerns and just thinks Im nuts.

Does anyone have energy on t3 only? Are you able to function? Can you leave your bedroom? Do you have a life? I can't seem to do any of the above. Very frustrating and depressing. D------------------------------------

Leisa when I was REALLY sick I went through jobs like underwear. I was

either late too often, or out sick too oftne or heck I got caught

sleeping on the job more than once. Bit I always managed to work. I had

to as no one has supported me in MANY years like sine I was 14 years

old. but it sure wasn;t easy and sometimes I had to move to a new area

just to fin a new job even though I have been a top notch groomer for

years. You know you are hypo when... you fall asleep standing up with a

running hair clipper on the dog and onyl wake when your face hits the

grooming table on the way down.

It will depend on your body and how fast the Rt3 leaves and how fast you

can build the T3. If you have wek adrneals or low ferritin you can count

on it takeing 12 weeks before feeling alot better but the gradual

improvements usually start around 50mcg.

Well that is the most time consuming hurdle to pass but it still takes

time for the T4 to leave your bodyand then the RT3 to follow, But most

of us have cleared RT3 ion 12 weeks.

Yes, I'm up and functioning for 14 hours a day, from 8am to 10 pm. I sometimes

need a 1-hour nap when I run out of steam. I work at home about 4 hours a day

doing French-to-English translation. I garden and go shopping and do a few

chores. I walk the dog 30 minutes twice a day and occasionally go dancing

(non-strenuous) for an hour or two. I read a lot on the web, and can absorb the

info, but don't always retain it.

I fizzle out easily, and have exercise intolerance, but nonetheless it seems I

am relatively functional. In the garden, I have enough energy to weed, but if

I'm shoveling, I'm pooped after 5 minutes. My favorite sport, X-C skiing, I can

only do for 45-60 minutes without triggering my runaway cortisol response (the

exercise intolerance).

This is on 87.5 mcg T3. Am slowly increasing the dose as ferritin goes up.

Just to give you an idea. --

So you still like her.

I noticed that her associate is an ND specializing in cardiovascular stuff. So

is Dr. Freeze “in the system”? I hope you can get some help. It

sounds like you’re really struggling.

I think working part-time is critical when you have problems with energy,

physical or mental. However you can arrange it.

First you must do away with the belief that you " should " work, work, work. That

is the societal mantra here in the U.S. ;-)

I have been dealing with that same work issue so much myself these past few days. I started feeling a lot better on more T3 and HC, and now my boyfriend is saying, well shouldn't you have it all worked out in about three weeks so you can start working?

I wrote a blog post this morning about a possible way to help people to evaluate whether pressuring you to work is a good strategy: http://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/using-expected-value-technique-to.html

more stuff I have written about the work/illness/communicating about illness issues: Emotional and Mental Work takes energy, toohttp://freeideasblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/emotional-and-mental-work-takes-energy.html

Why it's hard to show that you can't work due to fatigue and symptoms: the most important evidence isn't admitted

Super analogy for chronic fatigue or illness: if you can't work or can't do as much due to chronic illness (babysitting your body)

Big idea (Q and A approach) for communicating with your family and friends about chronic fatigue or invisible illnesses

How can we maintain others' respect while we have Lyme disease, chronic fatigue, etc?

Communicating about invisible illness - use comparisons to show you aren't just a whiner, and the illness is hard

Fatigue analogy - it's like being on anti-speed
