Guest guest
Good Luck with the blood work Amy. I can't say I've ever heard of Cardizem causing electrolyte problems. I remember when I was on it a few years ago, I had what felt like a bit of numbness around the lips at first. They said it was just a sensation due to the blood vessels being dilated in there. I was on it for the better part of a year, but it never did much for my blood pressure. Pierre Well shoot.... > I seem to be reacting to the new medication. grrrr.... I started on Cardizem LA 180mg daily 12 days ago. Yesterday I called the neph with an update to let them know things seem to be going o.k. Up until today I hadn't noticed any side effects and my b/p had come down a bit on the stuff. (not as far as they wanted but far enough that they plan on keeping me on it) Then today I wake up and notice that I'm starting to feel like I did back in October when my phosphours and sodium levels dipped way low, numbness in my mouth and extremities, bad taste in my mouth, bad odor to my skin, feeling very off emotionally. So today I had to call the neph back and say... " well I spoke too soon, maybe we should check out some bloodwork " *sigh* On the up side I had to be at the lab today anyhow for my weekly U/A. > Hopefully they will get the blood results tomorrow and if my levels are starting to fall they will catch it before it gets to the point it was in October....I really don't want to visit that point I was at in October ever again. It was bad, very bad....talk about a blonde with major psycosis due to her electolytes being way out of whack, my husband doesn't want to visit that place ever again either. ) Keep things crossed please, I hate this balancing act. Just when you think you have it down, wham everything gets thrown to the wind again. > > Amy > >
Guest guest
Hi Amy, Not the best way to end the year or to start the new one with your levels being out of whack. Sorry to hear you are reacting to the med change. I also noted on my calendar your tonsillectomy so I can pray for you on the 29th. Feel better soon Amy! Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the encouragement, it's so disheartening when you take these steps backwards. I called my nephs office and my results hadn't come in yet...so now I have to wait until Friday morning for them due to the holiday. *sigh* They said if I get to feeling really bad to get my butt to the hospital rather than waiting. He also said to eat some of the higher phosphorus stuff over the next few days since the likelyhood is that my levels are dropping low again. It's just too much like the last time. Once again looking on the up side this means I can now eat some of my son's chocolate birthday cake. ) I'll let you know what comes of the lab stuff on Friday.
