I finally got my glucometor

Hi to all:

This is Terrie who has been fighting with the ministry since December. I

finally got my glucometor. No, it was not through the ministry. It was

through a totally different source. One I never expected in all my life.

I went to the diabetic and lipid clinic and I was told that the diabetic

nurse had some good news for me, and I said I could use some. They asked if

I had a glucometor yet and I said " no. " So, Tamara said " Terrie, I have one

that you can see. I told Tamara I wanted to see it. I asked if I could take

it home. She laughed and said " No, but we can get you one. How? I asked? "

We can get it for free with a cupon that we can run over to the drugstor for

you. " And that was exactly what they did.

I got it yesterday. So, there is always something we can do to work around

the road blocks of the ministry.

So, I guess I won this war. I was nearly ready to appeal and I said No,

there is a way to work around what you are not going to do. & , there was.

the maker of the acucheck, is no longer making the voice ones either, I just

resently called them to try and get one and they told me they have been

discontinued at this time.

There is a new one available, from Accucheck, in Canada at least, at a cost of

$300. It is called the voice mate plus!

I haven't been payin attention to this thread, so forgive me if it has been

addressed.

But, has anyone heard anything about the European Sensocard (I am sure I am

misspelling it). It is a meter about the size of a credit card that I think

is manufactured in Poland. It is being used in the U.K. A friend has it

and likes it a lot. I thought a couple of years ago it was in the review

process with the FDA, but I have heard nothing in a very long time.

The older Accu-Chek unit that works with the Advantage meter I believe is no

longer being made. However, Accu-Chek has released a voice unit that works

with the Compact Plus. This may only be available in Canada, however. If

you're interested I can find the website that has more information about it.

Maybe I can bring some light to your questions regarding the Sensocard Plus

blood meter. As many of you on this list know, I have been using this meter in

England since before its first introduction to the British market around 2004,

being I was involved with its initial trials.

CDX, the company that marketed the Sensocard Plus, no longer distribute this

meter, due to Bill Cunningham's wife having a serious illness. What I do know,

he was involved in talks with the FDA in the States for some while, to obtain

its licensing approval for the American market. As to what progress he was

making towards this before selling his company, I am not sure. However, what I

do know! Having known Bill, in the short time of our working relationship. If

he hadn't sold his business, I do believe the Sensocard Plus meter would now be

available on the American market, being it was his baby from the very beginning.

The Sensocard Plus meter, is now distributed by BBI, in the UK. They can be

contacted on the following:

I will not be able to get another one under my insurance, I am just upset that I

was told by them that they had not voice machines at this time. I will have to

save up to get one.
