Guest guest
Hi Harry, The normalization diet that Doctor Bernstein preaches is pretty close to the Atkins diet. In short, you eat no carbohydrates and primarily healthy meats and vegetables. Essentially, you get rid of anything that can spike your sugars and derive all nutrients from vegetables and meat. My insulin doses as a type 1 diabetic, while following Dr B's diet, is 2 units of humalog per meal and my a1c runs 4.8. While on the diet, I rarely run low, never high, so it completely removes blood sugar swings. Regards, normalization diet? , I ask you to tell us all about it, since you are a type 1 diabetic and you have been on this diet in the past and even today you go back to it from time to time. Please keep the answers to a small posting, since apparently folks do not like to read long messages. You can address many issues regarding this diet in small fragments. Remember, large doses means big mistakes and small doses means small mistakes, as you so aptly taught me in the past. I think folks here would like to know how it works. For instance here are a couple of questions they might be interested in hearing about: What is the total daily carbohydrate consumption on this diet? How is this consumption handled in a typical diet meal items? How does this diet affect your blood glucose level? What are the physical and psychological effects of this diet? Of course you know I can never get by with just asking a couple of questions, because I really want to know. Looking forward, Harry
Guest guest
It would certainly keep those high swings from causing any diabetic complications and no roller coaster rides at a minimum. Not to mention the reduction in the amount of insulin used. How old is that old man, you know that doctor guy Bernstein?Of course he is a living type1 diabetic with all kinds of diabetic complications caused by this normalization diet, isn't he? Of course insulin is good for the system, the heart and other things, and the more you inject the better off one will be. Did I get that right? Like my relatives say when they get into the car and start driving, " Do you have your seat belt on or would you rather be thrown clear? " normalization diet? , I ask you to tell us all about it, since you are a type 1 diabetic and you have been on this diet in the past and even today you go back to it from time to time. Guest guest
Yup, Dr B is almost on his death bed for eating vegetables and healthy meats since he was age 35 and I think he is now over 75 years old. *grin*. Seriously though, all of his type 1 diabetic complications reversed once he got rid of eating carbohydrates. He has a gazillion research papers/studies and years of research to show all of his patients health increased drastically by normalizing their sugars. Problem is though, I cannot say I'll never eat a hoho again for as long as I live. He can, but I cannot *grin*. So I go on/off the diet. I probably go on normalization for 3 months to give my body a rest from swings and then off for a month etc. Regards, normalization diet? , I ask you to tell us all about it, since you are a type 1 diabetic and you have been on this diet in the past and even today you go back to it from time to time. Guest guest
Yup roller coasters can make you sick, that is for certain. I certainly will never deny that Dr B's approach is extreme. It isn't for everyone. However, it has been proven medically and scientifically to normalize blood sugars and reverse many diabetic complicaitons. His diet does not cause a diabetic to run good sugars, but rather, fully *normalize* blood sugars. Normalization is running a blood sugar of 83 all the time or 4.5 over there in Canada *grin*. I mean think of it, if all you ate was healthy veggies and healthy meats you'd barely need any insulin since insulin only works on carbohydrates. but the hoho's... the hoho's... *grin*. Guest guest
Say that again. How old did you say this medical quack is? You know that type 1 diabetic. Is he pushing for the longest living type 1 diabetic on the planet award. The last I heard it was up to one million dollars or maybe one million Euros. Soon they will be talking about real money like a trillion here and a trillion there. Do you remember when a billion dollars use to be a lot of money? Forget about it, since the children and grandchildren will be paying this tab. Is the retirement age 65 or 67, I forget, since it no longer affects me. Guest guest
Yeh, it is a bit controversial that is for certain. However, Dr Bernstein has years of patient research to back his claims. Guest guest
Are you telling me like the other hohos That a normalized diet may reveerse things like congestive heart failure, vision loss, impotence, possible kidney loss and prevent dialysis and such nonsense. (LOLLOLLOL) Cy, The Anasazi. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Harry Bates Sent: Monday, July 13, 2009 6:29 PM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Re: normalization diet? Are you telling me like the other hohos That a normalized diet may reveerse things like congestive heart failure, vision loss, impotence, possible kidney loss and prevent dialysis and such nonsense. You've got to be some kind of a quack or at least a duck<smile>. I have never heard of such quackery like preventing amputations. What about preventing heart attacks? I did what my doctor said to do, " Whatever you are doing to get these A1C readings of 5.8 and 5.9. Just keep on doing it, so I did. Whatever it is. What is this world coming to? normalization diet? , I ask you to tell us all about it, since you are a type 1 diabetic and you have been on this diet in the past and even today you go back to it from time to time.
