What a cute picture !!! Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

It's always SO nice to be able to picture people in your mind when

you're reading their posts.

(good luck finding a great guy!! I found mine on the net too, in a

chat room just over 6 years ago!)

Thanks for posting the picture, like it was said, it's always nice to

put a face with a name. Also some encouragement, I met my BF through a

personal ad as well, and we have been together for a year and a half and he's

wonderful!!! Good luck.

Yeah, I've actually met three people in the last 9 years... One of them was

a loser - an accountant from Bakersfield, CA. (Although Lake Tahoe was fun!)

Another guy turned out to be way older than he had originally portrayed

himself. (From Los Angeles.) The good news is that we are still friends

(after meeting maybe seven years ago) and I do all of his web page stuff for

his company and their hot rod club. He just got married to a woman that he

met online. (We had a great week in , WY.) The last guy I met was

really nice. (Monterey, CA) We dated for about 4 years, but he wasn't ready

for a serious commitment so... We had written for about 1 1/2 years before

meeting in person. He came to MN a couple of times and I visited him one

Christmas. (He even met my parents, brother and a couple of friends!) I

think one of the best things about him was that he accepted me no matter how

much I needed to lose. In fact, I think that he was a great motivator for me

BECAUSE he accepted me. I showed him pictures of what I looked like in high

school... after I had lost 115 pounds on Nutri/System. (I was pretty dang

cute then!) He asked me if I was going to look like that when I got to my

goal again. I told him that I probably would, although I wouldn't be 17! :D

What I don't understand is why I've met three guys and they are all from

California!! Why not Minnesota or North Dakota?! I don't care for bars

because: 1) music is too loud, 2) smoke gives me ear infections and 3) why

would I want to meet someone in a bar?

So... anyhow, I haven't dated anyone since the last guy... (if you can call

talking to him every day, etc., dating).. and that was back in 1998! Well,

at least no dates in my third decade and I am 34! Zoinks! If somebody would

have told me this when I was 18, I would have laughed in their face! (I was

pretty wild back then.) Then again, my standards have changed. Back then,

if he could complete a sentence, he was a keeper. Hmmm.. or if he could buy

me a drink.

So.. to keep this on the topic of WW... I would really like to meet someone

who can accept me for how I look NOW and support me as I lose weight. (And

I would prefer that we make about the same amount of money so that should

kids come into the picture, I could be at home while they are little.) :D

I guess this is pretty much off topic, but I will send it anyhow. (I

typically write long responses and then deem them off topic and delete them

without being sent. Or I think that someone might take it wrong and I don't

want to start even a mini-war.)

-Thanks for adding your picture-it's nice to put faces with names. I

just noticed that Tory had Disneyland photos there, too. I'm going there in

October with my family (well, it's our 4th time in a year.) I can't wait to hear

some tips when she gets back. We take most of our food (breakfast & lunch), but

we do eat out once a day. I have a trip to Hawaii to worry about food-wise in

September first. My husband & I are going (without the kids!) to celebrate our

10th anniversary. (I was smart and asked my mom 5 years ago to watch the kids, I

guess she never realized the week would finally come!)

By the way, I DID meet my husband at a bar - a country bar while I was in

college. We were engaged after 2 months & married the following year. The music

was probably loud, but at least there was no smoke! There is no smoking allowed

in public buildings here. It was so strange to visit his family back in Arkansas

& Illinois and have people smoking in the restaurants! We would ask for

non-smoking and end up sitting right next to a table of smokers! How in the

world do they they think they can keep the smoke from not drifting from the

" smoking " side to the " non-smoking " side. At least we didn't eat too much,

everything tasted like smoke!

I'm looking forward to my trips and plan to check old posts for some ideas. I

made it back to within 2 pounds(148 lbs) of my WW lifetime goal(146 lbs) last

week-it was so exciting to not have to pay! But I'm going to try for a personal

goal of 140 lbs. I just got the Winsor Pilates tapes in the mail yesterday and

I'm really excited to try them out today.

Thank you for all the support and ideas from everyone on this list. I had

re-started WW many times recently, but since joining WW and this list a few

months ago I know I am ready to make this a lifelong change. -- (Redwood

City, CA)

Thanks Peg! I agree that at least writing things down helps. A lot of what

I DON'T send is also probably reflecting my sense of humor that occasionally

is a bit quirky - so if someone isn't in the same frame of mind when I send

a comment, well... they might completely take it wrong. It would be totally

different if someone was able to see my facial expression or the tone of my

voice, but that is pretty hard to reflect in an email. :D (Although I DO

try to make sure I stick in a smiley to hopefully show that I am in a good

mood and that what I am writing is supposed to also be light-hearted.) Like

when two of the gals here had commented that they were both married to

Mark... so I wrote that he must be a pretty busy guy! Thankfully, no one

took it wrong!! I just thought it was funny how their email banter sounded

like it was the same guy. :D

Yeah, I've been " least expecting " it for the last four or five years... but

it sure doesn't help that I have also moved from MN to CO to KS and back to

MN in about two years. (Yikes! Grow some roots why don't ya!)
