I am so unbelievably sorry that you have to deal with the leukemia on

top of iga. But I am glad that you are in remission, I will continue

to pray for you and hope you get out of the hospital soon.

Take care,

I'm very sorry to hear about the leukemia. I'm glad you are being taken

care of and it has gone into remission for you. I have an uncle whom has lived

with it for many years once they managed to get his into remission...I wish you

many more good years to come.

" Ironically, this whole ordeal seems to have had a positive effect on

my Kidneys; my creatinine is down to 1.0 with very little protein. "

It's also good to see that you can find a light within a dark tunnel! Hang in

there and keep us updated when you can.

I am so sorry to learn of your bigger problem. Please feel free to bring

this problem here - we are here to provide whatever shoulder we can for YOU.

I'm very glad that the first round of chemo did the trick. Here's hoping

that the AML STAYS in remission. What kind of drugs did they do in your

chemo? I hope the side effects were not too awful. A good friend struggled

with acute leukemia for some time.... until thankfully a bone marrow

transplants put it in abeyance.

Please stay in touch and let us know how you are.

We missed you! I'm glad you got that labtop up and working. Here's hoping

that you get out of the hospital soon!

That is unbelievably horrible for you, I am so very sorry to read this

news. I hope you receive excellent care and advice of the next few

months, and I wish you a speedy recovery, and that you stay in

remission. Bless you.

Bigger Problem

Sorry I've been away from the list for a while. I found out on Dec 3

that I have acute myelogenous leukemia, and have been hospitalized

since then. Actually I'm still in the hospital, but just managed to

get the email on my laptop working. The good news is that the first

round of chemo apparently worked and I am in remission. I still

have several more rounds to go over the next several months.

Ironically, this whole ordeal seems to have had a positive effect on

my Kidneys; my creatinine is down to 1.0 with very little protein.

Hi ,

I am so very sorry you have been diagnosed with Leukemia. How very hard to

be in the hospital that long. I am so sorry. What a terrible way to spend the

holidays.

I will be praying for you . I am glad that the leukemia seems to be in

remission, and that at least your kidneys are doing well. Just goes to prove

there is always a bright side to everything.

I think your positive attitude will help you through the remaining rounds of

Chemo.

Take care of yourself , and may God bless you!

First, thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement. I've been

amazed by the support that my family and I have received from friends

& family!

The drugs they gave me were Cytarabine, Daunorubicin and Etoposide.

They gave me some pretty good drugs to prevent the side effects, so

treament was not nearly as bad as I expected. Today there are some

indications that my blood counts are coming up. Thanks again for the

nice thoughts.

Hi ,

I confess, I asked for a completely self-serving reason: my first research

job was as a lab tech in a leukemia lab. I'm familiar with daunorubicin,

but am not familiar with the other two drugs (I will get out there and bring

myself up-to-date!). Was one of the other drugs used to minimize side

effects leukovorin?

You were on my mind all day. This is a nasty card to be dealt.
