Hi Helen,

IgAN absolutely does NOT always end up with End Stage Renal Disease where you

need either dialysis or a transplant. Only between 30-50% of us will ever

get to that point. The majority die of other natural causes at old age without

ever needing dialysis.

They can't be certain about IgAN without a kidney biopsy. They can only make

an educated guess. They usually don't biopsy until there is significant

proteinuria, so people can go a long time without knowing for sure.
