Guest guest
Dear , >From RSDS webpage: " Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSD or RSDS), is also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). This neurologic syndrome often is characterized by : > severe burning pain > pathological changes in bone and skin > excessive sweating > tissue swelling > extreme sensitivity to touch There are Two Types of CRPS - Type I and Type II. CRPS Type I (also referred to as RSD) - cases in which the nerve injury cannot be immediately identified CRPS Type II (also referred to as Causalgia) - cases in which a distinct " major " nerve injury has occurred RSD/CRPS is best described in terms of an injury to a nerve or soft tissue that does not follow the normal healing path RSD/CRPS development does not appear to depend on the magnitude of the injury. The sympathetic nervous system seems to assume an abnormal function after an injury. " From: orthopedic surgeons site: " Reflex sympathetic dystrophy, also known as RSD, is a condition of burning pain, stiffness, swelling, and discoloration of the hand. RSD includes other medical diagnoses such as casualgia, Sudeck's atrophy, and shoulder-hand syndrome. RSD occurs from a disturbance in the sympathetic (unconscious) nervous system that controls the blood flow and sweat glands in the hand and arm. When the nervous system becomes overactive, burning pain is felt and swelling and warmth are left in the affected arm. If not treated, RSD can cause stiffness and loss of use of the affected part of the arm. In some cases, the cause of RSD is unknown. Often an injury can cause RSD, or the symptoms may appear after a surgery. Other causes include pressure on a nerve, infection, cancer, neck disorders, stroke, or heart attack. These conditions can cause pain, which sets off the sympathetic reflex causing RSD symptoms. Nerve injuries may change the way the nerve impulses are sent, causing a " short circuit " . " ------------------------------------- A German clinic uses DMSO, acupuncture, ultrasound, magnet therapy and lymphatic massage to treat it. ------------------------------------- RSD has been treated with hyperbaric oxygen with some success. -------------------------------------- I haven't found anything stating that ozone is effective for RSD, but it seems likely that it would help. Its worth a try. Bagging the affected limb would seem to be the way to go. Best of Health! Dr. Saul Pressman ------------------------------------------------------------------------- reflexive sympathetic dystrophy > Dear Dr. Pressman, A young woman I know has RSD reflexive sympathetic Dystrophy Can this painful condition be treated with ozone? What would be the best application and can she continue to breastfeed her baby? Thank you, > > >
Guest guest
Yow! . . . Lea . . . I don't know how much time he has, but he might try running tension cables from one corner to another, in an X fashion. . . X makes a very strong design. Lightweight, minimally visible, and inexpensive. I don't think this is something one wants to do on a windy day though. Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Oh Rogene, he is using some heavy rope, and now he is putting brackets into the floor and attaching them to the walls. This should have been done when the deck was built. It is snowing and he is not very happy. I wish that I could help, but I still feel sick. Honey, thank you for the tips....the rope is working....love you...Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~```` Re: Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Yow! . . . Lea . . . Guest guest
Lea, Research this or Regional Pain Syndrome, no known cure, can spread all over your body, very painful. Hope it goes away. I am researching alternatives to the treatment given, sympathetic nerve blocks, pain medication and the like are the normal treatment. Guest guest
Lynda, I will, because I have never heard of this. It would be great if you could find something other than pain medication to deal with this. I had to take Tylenol 3 because the GI pain was so bad, but it destroyed my regular digestion. Last night, I took Senokot and I hope the flare it is over. Take care of our Lynda....love you...Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~```` Re: Going to the endocrinologist> >> >Lynn,> >> >It was so nice to finally meet you.> >> >Lynda> >> >> >>>><http://promos.hotbar.com/promos/promodll.dll?RunPromo & El= & SG= & RAND=77315 & partner=hotbar>>Upgrade Your Email - Click here!>>>
Guest guest
Lea, I am totally restricted as to pain medication, as years ago, when I had a ruptured disc in my back, they tried a number of things. I get hives from anything with codeine. Most pain medications have codeine. Morphine is the only one I know that I can actually use, and I would be extremely reluctant to do so. Tylenol I can take, but hate to take it at all. Cannot take NSAIDs. Will have lots of problems if the pain becomes too great. Guest guest
Lynda, I am allergic to Morphine because it makes me itch so badly. This is proof of how different we react to certain medications. I wish that there was a painkiller that I could use when the pain is very bad. Codeine makes my throat swell, but I do have to take Tylenol 3 once in a while. Some women here have a Morphine pump implanted into their bodies for pain....this is frightening. Stay close...love you.......Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`` Re: Going to the endocrinologist> > >> > >Lynn,> > >> > >It was so nice to finally meet you.> > >> > >Lynda> > >> > >> > >> >> >> ><<http://promos.hotbar.com/promos/promodll.dll?RunPromo & El= & SG= & RAN > D=77315 & partner=hotbar>http://promos.hotbar.com/promos/promodll.dll?RunPromo & El= & SG= & RAND=77315 & partner=hotbar>> >Upgrade Your Email - Click here!> >> >> >>>><http://promos.hotbar.com/promos/promodll.dll?RunPromo & El= & SG= & RAND=28759 & partner=hotbar>>Upgrade Your Email - Click here!>>>
