Guest guest
I did notice the short blurb that it is " completely audible. " I remember this meter was up for discussion a few months ago, and as I remember it, there was something lacking about it. but that description posted by , most notably the completely audible part, makes it sound pretty much like a Prodigy twin. That is except for the mention of a usb cable enabling you to upload results to the pc. I wonder if the software is screen reader friendly? Guest guest
HI , Perhaps you can inquire for us about how this meter compares to the Prodigy? That is to say, are all the settings accessible via speech, and is the software to upload results to the pc, screen reader friendly? Thanks. Guest guest
Hi, Is this suppose to supersede the SensoCard plus? it's seven second result time is slightly slower than the SensoCard and it's blood sample is slightly larger. Wonder if it's more accurate when your results stray away from the norm. Guest guest
Dave, I realize that the following information is all but completely useless to most on this list – but – Wal-Mart sells their version of a glucometer and it is called Rely-on. The meter sells for something like $14 and the strips are about $35 for 100. The meter is made by the same folks who make the One Touch and is (supposedly) accurate. Why on Earth the One Touch strips are $80 per 100 is beyond me. I suppose it is the same philosophy as lots of adaptive equipment, Uncle Sam and/or some insurance company is footing the bill so who cares how much it costs. Guest guest
Good Morning All, I will try to answer as many questions regarding this new Cleverchek meter as possible, that were asked in your Emails last night, although I'm just in the dark about this meter as the rest of you. I understand the Cleverchek meter is going to be available through the RNIB in the UK, at the end of this month through its Customer Services, and about two or three weeks later in their resource centre in London. I will make a point of visiting the resource centre next month when it becomes available, and have a look at this Cleverchek meter, and I will make a report back to this list, hopefully with some or your answers. I don't think the Cleverchek is an update on the Sensocard Plus meter, being they are not being manufactured by the same company. As regarding the question between the Prodigy meter and the new Cleverchek. Unfortunately, I can't answer this question, being we don't have the Prodigy meter here in the UK. The only blood meter I would be able to compare the Cleverchek too, would be the Sensocard Plus, in which I was involved with its initial trials! From what I can tell, the Sensocard only takes five seconds in getting a result, in comparison to the new Cleverchek meter which takes 7 seconds. Regarding the memory between the Sensocard Plus and Cleverchek, there's not a great deal of difference between the two meters. The Sensocard Plus will hold up to 500 results, as to the 450 with this new meter. From what I have seen so far, the two things it has towards its favour, firstly, is the ability to give a 90 day average reading as opposed to the 28 days of the Sensocard, and secondly, the ability to connect the Cleverchek meter to a computer via the USB cable. Where as, the results from the Sensocard plus can be downloaded to a PC via a Lazer light programme. Although I have never tried to do this with my Sensocard meter! As to the setting the time and date, I will look into this question, as I don't know the answer to this one. However, if there are any more questions you would like me to investigate, you only need to ask, and I will write up a list, for when I next go to the Royal National Institute of Blind People. Guest guest
I cut my connections with the below company because they dropped the Prodigy in favor of the Clever Check meter. Maybe someone would be willing to call them and ask them a few good questions? Primarily, do all the settings, such as setting time and date, speak? And is the software accessible/screen reader friendly? They are in Texas, so they are in the CST time zone.
