Guest guest
You know, this is an interesting thread, I have realized two things: a) I am not the only one old enough to remember carrying a 25 auto in the airway bag...... and being sure that I ALWAYS carried the airway bag in the house.... and.... For Lou, I have no idea, though I must assume that there is no law stating that the box is a 'Gun Free Zone', I would venture to say that each service is responsible for writing policy on the issue. We are hospital based, so our hospital policy covers us, so, no guns in the bus! I have to yield the floor to anyone who may be able to quote a specific law. Hmmmm.....armed medics.........frequent fliers........hmmmm........nahhhhhh, never get away with it. Mike From: Rob Hatfield wrote: > > I believe that thread was started tongue in cheek. Are you sure? I was thinking that Molino's suggestion that the ambulance was a " GUN FREE ZONE " was the tongue-in-cheek post! As for " what qualifies a paramedic to carry a gun, " is state law good enough for you? Last I heard, we don't lose our civil rights when we finish medic school. There is a long proud history of medics carrying guns on rigs. The practice reached it's peak in the late 1970's after it was popularly portrayed by Bill Cosby in the blockbuster hit, " Mother, Juggs & Speed.
