Hi, all, I'm new to this group. I want to apologize in advance for the length of my first post! My name is and my 4 1/2 year old son was diagnosed with autism at 28 months old. His case was really from birth, very subtle, yet still different from my older children, who are both NT. When Jack was first diagnosed, he had emerging language, albeit delayed. He started ABA, OT, and ST right from the start of this journey, and my husband and I did our homework, changed his diet to great results, and started looking for a DAN. He was doing really well, and I have video of him on the potty from 2/08, 6 months post diagnosis, and 2 months shy of his 3rd birthday, singing, talking, giggling, interacting, making great eye contact, etc. I weaned Jack the day before his 3rd birthday, and he continued to do well, until he caught his first real cold/upper respiratory

virus. This was in 8/08, 4 months after he was weaned, and although we had some regression, he bounced back. We took a trip to Italy to see family for Christmas '08. He did really well, was consistent with his toileting (maybe 2 pee accidents in the entire 2 weeks), was verbal, although still delayed, but we were definitely expanding his speech. I can remember his pointing at the fish tank in his great-aunt's house and saying, "Mommy, it's fish!". His great-aunt was sick with a nasty cold, and she tried to stay out of contact with us until she was on the mend. On the flight home, 12/29/08, Jack started coughing. As soon as we got home, he started wetting his pants. At this point he was pretty ill, deep chest cough, and his language started to go. Eventually, what was once, "Want more chips, please" became " Chi....". He was sick for almost 8 weeks, off and on. He'd get better, we would think that he was out of the woods, and then we would hear the deep

cough start again in the night. We finally put him on a course of azithromax, with much hesitation, as the last and only antibiotic treatment ended quickly with a full body rash. However, with the azithromax, he got better, and he seemed to be regaining his language. However, the progression stopped pretty quickly, and to cut a long story short, he has never been the same. His language is minimal, inarticulate, he no longer sings the songs he knew by heart. His spontaneous language disappeared, he is stimming both verbally and physically, spinning, laughing inappropriately, toe walking, etc. I'm thrilled that he continues to have great eye contact, and it's clear that he is present. His receptive language is quite good, but overall, he looks pretty darn autistic these days. I am CONVINCED that he has never gotten rid of the virus that hit him at Christmas. I had our DAN order some general viral titers, expecting them to come back high. In fact, they

came back way below normal, meaning that he is immunodeficient. An interesting thing of note is that whenever we see a big behavioral shift or sudden dysregulation, I can pretty much always find an enlarged marble sized lymph node, either behind his left ear, or on the lower left side of his head. He never manifests any outward signs of illness anymore, no fever, no coughing, nothing. So far we have done both Nystatin and Diflucan for yeast, and on a daily basis he takes a Kirkman multi, Kirkman Mag/B6, calcium, GABA, lactobacillus (he doesn't produce any of his own), MB12 revitapop, zinc with OLE, CLO, occasional vitamin C (he gets diarrhea if we go overboard), vitamin D, glutathione cream, msm cream and I just started him on colostrum for immunity and aloe vera juice for his seemingly incurable gut dysbiosis. We have used both DMG and OSR. We know he has off the chart heavy metals and oxidative stress (France asked for a repeat sample to make sure

their equipment wasn't broken) and we were chelating with EDTA/DMPS suppositories until Lee Silsby stopped shipping to California. At this point we are heartbroken and at a loss. We have done everything under the sun to try and help our kiddo, but he seems to have become a non-responder. He had responded well previously, which makes me think that the mercury-yeast-virus symbiosis is occurring in his belly. I am using the time between now and Dec 10, when we see our DAN again to get his gut and immunity strengthened, because I want to use the Christmas break for the antiviral protocol, if it's appropriate. I have a feeling our DAN might not be on board, but we are literally going nowhere right now, even with all that we are doing. Any thoughts, insights, experiences would be so greatly appreciated!, mom to , Lily, Jack and one on the way in May!
