Guest guest
This is just my two cents... I used to weigh daily but only count Monday's weight as the "official" weigh in. I would always be tempted, however, to use the lowest number I saw that week as my official weigh in instead of going with Monday's number (This week for instance, I saw 205.8 on Saturday but was higher than that this morning so I really, really would have wanted to say 205.8 instead of my true weight on Monday). For the past month or so, I've been weighing daily and averaging those weights and that's what I call my official weigh in. This method is recommended by Drs. Eades in the "Protein Power" book, I believe. For some people, seeing the daily fluctuations just discourages them, so it's probably best for that person to weigh just once a week, or even less frequently. For me, weighing daily doesn't usually get me down because I know to expect minor fluctuations and I usually know why there is a gain if there is. Guest guest
Sue, You are absolutely right! I used to weigh myself everyday and it became so discouraging that I just quit and I now weigh like every 4- 5 days. (I guess its a normal workday week) -Keisha smile.... Guest guest
Sue, you're right it IS discouraging... but I'll admit... I'm a slave to the scale. I tried not getting on it but found I couldn't do without it. Last summer I even had my DH hide it from me and only bring it out on Saturday morning so I could weigh but that didn't help much... I found I would get dressed in very light clothing and go to the department store and get on one of their scales. ARGH. Guest guest
Marlena, ROTFL!!! A scale-o-holic!!!!! Actually, I'm the opposite. If I don't get on the scale every day, I tend to let down on my WOE. Then, if I stay at the same weight or bounce up, after a few days, I really get determined to drop some weight. Getting on them every day works for me!!! Guess we all have to find which way works for us. Dwen Marlena M wrote: Sue, you're right it IS discouraging... but I'll admit... I'm a slave to the scale. Guest guest
Unless you are trying to see if you have intolerances and want to judge whether something you ate has an impact on the scales, it's probably a good thing to only weigh in once a week so that you don't get upset with little fluctuations. However, some people get a big kick out of watching the scales go down and there is nothing wrong with weighin daily either. Definitely one of those YMMV things - no wrong answer Kirstie
Guest guest
I weigh daily, I do better if I do. I usually don't have daily fluctuations, but if I do I don't let them bother me if I know I've stuck to my plan. If I weigh weekly I end up with this " I can eat extra food cuz I don't weigh for 5 more days " mentality. I don't cheat, but eat more food than I might otherwise. Another of those YMMV things Sue D At 03:00 PM 3/12/01 -0600, you wrote: I've noticed that many people seem to weigh themselves daily are you suppose to do that or is it best to just try and do it once a week? Guest guest
I was told to weigh myself every morning at the same time on the same scale. Write the numbers down and at the end of the week average the numbers and it will give me an accurate number of pounds lost. Anyone else do this? Guest guest
Marlena, have you been reading my diary? This sounds like my story! I weigh every day and when I report a weight, I report what I weighed that morning. Lynn Marlena M wrote: > > Sue, you're right it IS discouraging... but I'll admit... I'm a slave to the > scale.
