Guest guest
You said you took potassium to help regulate your heart rate. Since mine seems to be staying in the 100 range I thought I'd try the salt and potassium until I can get an electrolyte test taken. How much potassium and salt should I take and how often? Guest guest
Leisa, I take 80meq of potassium a day. When my test result came back at 3.6, I had high pulse rate. It also can cause swelling. When it is that low, I become almost non-functional. I am considering upping it. Although I did read in a post that supplementing with potassium can lower Magnesium. So I will also get that tested the next lab. Guest guest
This is interesting. I'm getting my electrolyte panel done. Last March my potassium was 4.3 ( 3.4- 5.2 ) I thought this was ok at the time. Maybe it has changed. What is a good number to shoot for?How high was your pulse when it was high? Guest guest
When my potassium was low my pulse got as high as 116 after just making my bed. In resting mode it would be in the 90's to low 100's. As for a good level, I have heard anything from 4.2 to 5.0 but I do not know what is the best level. I go by how I feel. The last time I was at 4.2 but I think I would like to get to 4.4. or .5 I also have a sulfite sensitivity which can raise my pulse if I eat or drink anything with sulfites in it. So it is a guessing game sometimes as to what is causing it. So I get it checked periodically every few months. Guest guest
Yes I was at 80meq at 3.6 BUT the pharmacist changed me to a generic without telling me. I CANNOT take anything in generic. For some reason I do not absorb generics. Never have. Imagine my surprise when my test came back at 3.6 at 80 meq. I knew something wasn't right and called my pharmacist and asked if what they gave me was generic and it was. So I insisted they put me on a brand name and next test it was at 4.2 with 80meq. Here's the kicker, when my regular doctor, not my naturopath called me with the results, he thought that number was fine. I just hung up the phone and I am not sure I am going to rely on him for much anymore. I felt like crap and he says that's fine? Thank god I found a great naturopath....she'll be checking it from now on. Guest guest
Venizia What brand name are you taking? I'm taking part klor con and part slow k because my doctor will only Rx 30meq (for now). My levels have been around 3.6 all summer no matter what. My doctor said I was in range too. What does the naturalpath say about levels?? I went to a doc. who circled my 3.4 and said that it needs to be a 5. But when 20meq wasn't cutting it, he said 3.6 is fine. My heart actually hurts right now. - In RT3_T3 , " venizia1948 " wrote: > > Yes I was at 80meq at 3.6 BUT the pharmacist changed me to a generic without telling me. I CANNOT take anything in generic. Guest guest
I feel this way now but since I haven't had any labs done I have no idea if it's due to low potassium. I feel weak all over and my head is pulsating and my eyes hurt.well, I sent all my labs, and they are supposed to call me , a dr that is, to advise. But he did mention electrolytes in a creme. I remember reading or seeing something on you tube about it.does anyone get pulsating head from low potassium? mine is low, just wondering if thats a symptomFrom: venizia1948 <nelsoncksbcglobal (DOT) net>Subject: Re: PotassiumTo: RT3_T3 Date: Monday, August 24, 2009, 7:15 PMNo I have not. Guest guest
Wow, this is exciting. I have started to add two bananas a day to my diet too. I started bananas yesterday. I just paid for my labwork with Econolabs, now I'm waiting to see when I can go in. I was told to get the Electrolyte serum and it shows your potassium and sodium levels. I'm testing for my potassium because of my high pulse. This week I decided to add a couple of bananas to my diet just to see if my potassium is really low and I lost my inner tube around my belly. The bloating and water weight is starting to go down. What test along with potassium would be good? sodium. What does it mean when you are low on potassium?RECENT ACTIVITY9New MembersVisit Your GroupGive BackYahoo! for GoodGet inspiredby a good cause.Y! Guest guest
I would need 15 bananas, that's 150 grams of sugar. If you're watching your sugar, avocados are a good choice. If you google, there are lots of things that could lower potassium. HypoP's tend to have low potassium.
