****Now, each of the three friends gets a dollar back, thus they each

paid $9 for the room which is a total of $27 for the night. We know the

bellhop pocketed $2 and adding that to the $27, you get $29, not $30

which was originally spent. Where did the other dollar go????****

Ed.... The hotel owner gave back $5.00, leaving a bill of $25.00 and not

$30.00. The bell man gave back to each person $1.00 out of the $5.00.

So the Hotel owner got $25.00... yet the men paid $27.00 for the room.

The bellman took the extra $2.00.... You add the $25.00 paid to the

hotel owner plus the $2.00 to the bellboy and you get $27.00 - No lost

dollar!
