Guest guest
Ok, this may be a stupid question, but here goes. We are just beginning the SCD and I realize that the yoghurt is very important for beneficial bacteria. One problem. My son is on a GF/CF diet. In other words, no cow or goats milk. Any suggestions? THANKS!
Guest guest
Yogurt start should be delayed until later, after " die off' symptoms abate. GFCF cautions against dairy and it is a valid concern since not everyone can tolerate the goat's milk yogurt. The many that do find it beneficial and usually linked to improved behavior and functionality. Yogurt and other dairy is optional, not mandatory on SCD. For those who don' t use it, there is nut yogurt. Check the recipe section of Pecanbread. http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html GFCF and SCD differ in regard to which carbohydrates are in the diet. If you will be following SCD, there are changes to be made and you will want to read Breaking the Vicious Cycle and check out Elaine Gottschall's web site; www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info. Best of luck! And one more suggestion: You are not stupid! You are a mom seeking the best way to help your child. " There is no such thing as a stupid question. NOT asking the question is stupid and only answers can be stupid. Nut yoghurt is an excellent sub for cow or goat, I have made it since november last year and my son is thriving on the powerful yoghurt. There is a possibility that he does tolerate the cow's or goat's, but you'd have to try at a strategical moment. See: http://www.pecanbread.com/recipes.html scroll down to nut yoghurt. I have a step-by-step instruction sheet, but I'd need your private emailaddress. Marjan.hammink@... Guest guest
I will wait about three months, or so, before I begin introducing the yogurt. Is that a good amount of time to wait? My son only has sporatic loose stools and is mostly solid. His labs reveal a ton a bad bacteria. Also, one more question. What is the best yogurt maker out there? Thanks for telling me about the recipe section online. I can make home made nut milk. Thank god for the internet! I am very optimistic about the diet.
