Guest guest
Kathy, It's too bad about the multiple vitamin for Abby because that was the case with my daughter,Virginia, until she began taking the Freeda Iron Free Multiple Vitamin. She bruised very easily and her legs were covered with many quarter-size black and blue marks. I don't think this is OT at all because it relates so closely to what our children are eating and there may be a parent out there somewhere on the listserv who has found a solution for your unique situation. , Mom to non ASD, IBD daughter, age 8, whole family SCD 11/03 no Imodium since 12/03, Nortryptaline & Imitrex (migraines) other daughters ages 11 and
Guest guest
She has had some on her arm from a banana reaction that occured almost 2 weeks ago. I thought they were taking so long to get better but this morning noticed they were worse! Now I'm freaking out thinking she's doing it in her sleep and worrying about seizures? Any advice is helpful. Thank you, Kathy Abby-9, ASD, UC, SCD since 2-21-04 Re: not OT/Kathy/bruising/vitamins > Kathy, > It's too bad about the multiple vitamin for Abby because that was the case > with my daughter,Virginia, until she began taking the Freeda Iron Free Multiple > Vitamin. Guest guest
--- Kathy, I was very interested to read your message. My son also bruises very easily. I have even had the doctor check his clotting time, which turned out to be normal. You mentioned that your daughter has reactions to B-vitimans. My son has negative reactions to B- vitamins, regardless of what brand I use or how low a dose I give him. He gets bad nosebleeds, is extremely hyper, and unable to sleep. These problems do not get better with time. What kind of reaction does your daughter have? My son is also hypoglycemic and has to eat every 90min.-2hrs. and he cannot tolerate starches or sugars of any kind, including fruit or honey. We have been to many doctors in an attempt to address these problems. They either dismiss us or are completely baffled. I have spoken to other parents of ASD kids and most don't know what I'm talking about. I would also appreciate hearing from anyone whose kids have similar problems. ( SCD 3yrs.) Guest guest
Hi , Yes, we have had those kinds of tests as well and they were o.k. I have notice lately some bruises on her arm which she did in a fit of eating a banana and it's been about 2 weeks! They don't look like they are healing up at all. Abby has never tolerated a multiple and when she was little had to have one compounded without the B vitamins. I always heard that Vitamin C helped so I give her 1000mg a day. She can be self-injurious but since we started SCD and we also stopped the high-phenol foods she is doing better. Her diet is so limited I am afraid she must be lacking on something that is keeping her from healing. She has always bruised kind of easy because she is very fair but in the past they cleared up fine. It really worries me and I have to send her to school looking that way. We are seeing a new DAN doctor next week and I will speak with her. She is very aware of SCD. Will let you know what she says.....................Kathy p.s the B vitamins cause the same type of reactions also.........hyper, not sleeping well, agitated > --- > Kathy, > I was very interested to read your message.
