Guest guest
Penny, Have you ever tried taking out the banana for awhile? The no-fenol absolutely did not work for us with banana and after taking it out for a month and then giving her just one she had a major SIB reaction to it? Could it be he is allergic to banana? There is a lot of sugar in it after all.................. Kathy Abby-9, ASD, UC and SCD since 2-21-04 more enzyme questions and aggressiveness > I am still trying to figure out Kenzie's aggressiveness. It's only quick little flashes. Sometimes it's as though he's excited, sometimes it's like he's really angry and sometimes it's like it's pain. I don't know a timeline on it but it's been going on for a long time. It happens with me several times a day and it's really disturbing. Often I think it's frustration because he doesn't want to do something. > I put enzymes in the post because now I'm wondering about them. I very infrequently give the Kirkman's complete DPP-IV. If it's a really big meal with different foods I'll give it. What I do give everytime he has a banana is No-Fenol. I give him one whole capsule and he has been getting them for quite awhile. Could this be causing the aggressiveness? If not, does anyone have any ideas? He also gets quite hyper and seems to be stimming more on his hands. I've been giving Freeda SCD once everyday but it started way before that. I also have been giving him B-12 shots twice per week. > > Thanks for any input on this. > > Penny > Kenzie ASD > SCD 7 months > >
Guest guest
Kathy: Gosh I totally agree. Angie has been telling me to do that for quite awhile. Here is my dilemma. He can't eat any raw fruits, won't eat any cooked ones so I don't know what to give him for snacks. He eats a ton of his nut butter cookies. He wants to eat all day. He's been home this week for spring break. He eats eggs, one banana and some cookies in the morning. He'll eat chicken for lunch. Today I gave him broccoli and cauliflower as a snack so he could get more cookies. I just don't know what to feed him throughout the day. I'm trying to cut the bananas down but I probably need to take them away completely. Any ideas on the snack issue? Thanks Penny more enzyme questions and aggressiveness > I am still trying to figure out Kenzie's aggressiveness. It's only quick little flashes. Guest guest
Well, Abby's diet is pretty limited because of all the phenol issues. She gets Midas Gold Pancakes for breakfast (made with pecan flour) and some cashew/honey (very little honey) on top. She'll have bacon with it usually on the weekends. She has some pomegranate juice too. I usually send a meatloaf or hamburger with veggies cooked inside, jello (made from pomegranate) and some pureed pears, mangos or papaya to school She has the juice from the fruits to drink. I have just started giving her plain pork rinds for a snack and am so glad that's o.k. She's glad to have something crunchy. She doesn't like the muffins, cookies or plain veggies so I have to be creative. Be glad he will eat veggies. She won't eat any unless they are hidden. Sometimes I will do a smoothie for snack. He may drink that instead of just eating them pureed. Put a lot of ice and fruit and it's pretty good. You just have to go ahead and take out the banana for awhile (probably 4-6 wks) and that's the only way you will truly know for sure. But I do understand what you are going through. My daughter is 9 and she is not aggressive towards other people but we have issues with SIB. I will say Thank God for this group and this diet because since I have taken out apple, banana and grape she is TOTALLY NOT picking her nails at all!!!!!!!!!That is a big deal for us! Good luck Penny. You are doing a great job! Kathy > > Gosh I totally agree. Angie has been telling me to do that for quite awhile. Here is my dilemma. Guest guest
Hey Penny, Those things can be caused by a lot of things, but London gets very crabby(like you described ) when the dose is too high. But he also does that when he doesn't tolerate a supplement. You can take everything out, and put it in one by one.
