We post links to press releases via Twitter. I'm not sure how the Duty

Officer does the actual post.

Subject: 911:: Social Media

I'm curious how many Dispatch Centers/PSAPs have (and use)

department-specific social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter.

And if you don't mind, include how you use them and your URLs if you

can.

I'm considering trying to get my department to start using Twitter and

Facebook: Twitter at the very least as a tool for media notifications

and Facebook for public education type stuff.

My only issue is that there's not a really simple way to email status

updates to Twitter, you have to jump through the hoops of either signing

up for yet another account on a different website or set it up for SMS

access, which is several steps. Ping.fm is easy to use, but it's still

yet another account to create.
