Guest guest
Dear Friends, As many of you know, Nashville and the surrounding areas have had severe flooding over the last few days. The Cumberland river went 15 feet over the crest level and flooded neighborhoods and the downtown area. If you " Google " Nashville flooding, you will get an idea of the devastation. We have been contacted by Nashville Metro 911 Director Duane and Assistant Director for help from 911 CARES and the 9-1-1 family. They have confirmation that three of their dispatchers have either lost everything or most everything including their homes. A few of their dispatchers are unable to safely return to their homes and they are expected to be losses also. One dispatcher was rescued by boat just before her home flooded. Many other dispatchers have had the contents of their homes flooded or destroyed. Here is the initial plan after speaking with Nashville Metro 9-1-1: Take up a clothing/supply collection and send it to Nashville Metro 911 directly (address listed below) Take up a monetary collection and turn them into either Wal-Mart or Target gift cards and send them to Nashville Metro 911 directly (address listed below) Make a credit card donation by calling 911 CARES at . We accept VISA, MasterCard and American Express. 100% of your donation will be applied to the NASHVILLE ACTIVATION. Our call center is open from 7am-4pm California time. You can also go to www.911cares.com and make a donation on our store page. All donations this week will go to Nashville. Supplies and clothes needed: Send CLEAN, new or gently used adult clothes or kids clothing. (Wash them before sending them and mark sizes on them) We do not have a specific size list due to the continuing emergency but all sizes are currently needed. Jeans, polos, t-shirts and casual clothes are best. Sweats and sweat shirts are great also. Blankets, towels, sheets. Kids toys and books and teddy bears. Just imagine losing the contents of your home. What would you need most? Fill that need. We will continue to coordinate efforts with Nashville and we will post updates on our cares site at www.911cares.com and on our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/PSTC/109314439098647?ref=ts **ON a side note, we have listed the address of the Detroit 9-1-1 Center on our facebook page, they lost an officer and 4 others were wounded.
