So glad to hear all is well! I never did well figuring out what were

BH contractions......so no advice there.

For pediatricians. I interviewed three. They all let me come in

(should be NO CHARGE) and talk with them. I usually went early and

sat in the waiting room to observer the nurses, desk, and try and

talk with other patients. I didn't do it till much later. At almost

20 weeks you still have plenty of time, but it can't hurt to do

things earlier rather than later. Here is the list of questions I

used as a guide....

• What insurance do you take?

• How long do you normally have to wait for an appointment?

• What are your hours?

• Is it a group or solo practice?

• If solo, who covers when you're gone?

• If group, how often do I have to rotate doctors?

• How do you handle normal appointments?

• What is the best way to reach you?

• How available are you to answer my questions?

• How do you handle calls/emergencies after hours?

• Do you call in scripts if necessary?

• How long do your patients normally wait in the waiting room?

• Do you have a separate waiting room for sick kids?

• Office staff – nurses

• What hospital are you affiliated with?

• What is your philosophy on vaccinations? (This is more to

get them talking. If they asked my thoughts, I said I was undecided,

so I'd hear their true feelings)

• Will you visit the baby in the hospital?

• Schedule of visits?

Oh Tara! This is awesome! LOL I'm so excited now! I've asked so many

people already and the only answers I could get were, " Ask your gyn, " and

" Interview them. " Uh, gee, thanks, you're a big help.

Those are all great questions! Now I've just got to work on people to get

some names. Or I'll call my insurance company for their list and eliminate

those that are too far away.

That sounds like baby to me. They really can press hard, causing some

discomfort and their little heads (or butts, or knees) do feel hard

like that.

IMHO, you should choose a pediatrician, not a family doctor. I want

someone who specializes in kids. Also, you really will get a " vibe "

from them. Something to ask: do they have nurses (or doctors) who

will call you back during the day when you have questions that aren't

worthy of making an appointment? My peds office has that, and it's

been invaluable. They have two nurses whose only job is to return

phone calls/questions.

Glad to hear things go well w/ u. I haven't experienced BH contractions yet but

I expect that to happen anytime soon as I'm nearing 9 months now.

Wow, your daughter is already 2 months old! I'm a bit nervous about labor &

delivery and hope I will not have any complications.

Thank you. I actually asked my family doc to recommend some pediatricians

and the only name she gave me was the pediatrician in their office. I think

that sounds like a great service your pediatrician offers. Also, thanks for

your opinion on the BH/baby question. That's really what I was hoping to

hear! =)
