New here- Getting my saline implants out...

Hi,I'm not sure how this group works yet...So I thought I'd share my story, hoping other members will write back.I have had my saline breast implants in for 12 years now.I have suffered with C.F.S. (chronic fatigue syndrome) for basically all that time. It varied in severity over the years, some days bedridden, unable to function due to exhastion, blured head, nausea, dizziness, slurred speech, digetive problems... and so on....I tried every natural therapy. Naturapaths/ homeopaths/ colonics/detox's and so on.I finally after a decade went on perscription med's for sleep and circulation, energy.. that helped significantly. not to say I was all better, but it helped take the worst of it away. I can function now.I always wondered if my implants had anything to do with it. No one addressed it. They were more interested in the fact that I was in a horseback riding accident where I suffered a closed head injury, among other things. Now I'm trying to get pregnant. I'm 36 so we have to get going.I decided to take out the implants before. So I have surgery on the 17 th of July.I hope to get healthier and go off these meds. I have been reading about explants and the need to detox after. (Any advice?) I am concerned about passing any bad stuff from this on to my future baby...Well, I suppose by finally removing these crazy things I will find out if they we're affecting my health??I am only removing them, not getting a lift. Avoiding cutting the areola-nipple. Will it be OK to breast feed? Does anyone know?Thank's!LA

Hi Loriann, Welcome to our group! Thanks for sharing your story, and letting us know you will be in surgery. That is today....I am so sorry to hear of the suffering you've endured for so long. It looks like you've struggled through, but I am glad you finally realized that the implants could be doing this to you. I hope you have been feeling supported through this experience as it is never easy. We will support you as best we can. I hope you were able to do alot of research regarding the explant procedure and covered all the necessary bases with your chosen surgeon. The most important thing is to know that you have gotten out the capsules too. If you've been ill, getting the capsules out or not can play a big part in your recovery. So, you want to be sure of that. After your surgery, be sure to request a copy of the operative report and see exactly what the

doctor did...there will be a discussion of the procedure. You will want to see a discussion of the removal of the capsule. You do NOT want to see the words "partial capsulectomy." Detoxing and getting off of those meds is a good goal to have, but be aware that it is going to take alot of time. Healing after having breast implants for 12 years is not going to be an overnight affair, so be sure you are prepared for an appropriate recovery time. Especially since you've been on meds for so long--it will take time to wean off of them and get the residual drugs out of your system, so that your body can get back to a healthier state. It took me 4 years to get better, after having breast implants for 9 months, and that was with no drugs whatsoever. I wanted to get better right away, and I got very impatient. It was a long 4 years! You may not take as long, but you could take longer, too. There is really

no way of knowing when you will get better. You are smart for taking care of your implants before you get pregnant. Hopefully you will be able to have a successful pregnancy. Breastfeeding after implants is certainly possible, but there is always a risk that the glands have been damaged in some way, even if you don't get a lift. That will be something you will have to work out as you go through the delivery and see how well your milk comes in. It's hard to say, but it is certainly possible. Some women are nervous about the potential damage to the baby from anything remaining in the breast to affect the milk. Implants have chemicals, but hopefully with proper detoxing and supplementation to bring your health up, you will be able to successfully breastfeed with good milk. All breastmilk today is tainted because of the pollution in the environment regardless, but it remains the

healthiest choice for an infant. It's sad to think that our bodies are so polluted, but it's true. There are many avenues for detoxing. I think it is one of the hardest questions to answer on this group ("How do I detox?") because there are so many things you can do from home and so many target areas. But there are many good books on detoxing available, and I would just suggest that you buy one and follow its program. The goals are, first, to stop putting toxins in your body, which means changing how you eat, what you put on your skin, what products you buy at the store. You have to become aware of all the potentially damaging ingredients in foods and hygiene products and avoid them. And then, the second goal is to assist your body in removing what toxins are already there. There are therapies that do that, such as juicing, colonics,

enemas, fasting, the Master cleanse, saunas, and more. It takes a little more effort but it is worth the sacrifice as you see your body regain health. You will be able to pick and choose what you want to do based on what you are most comfortable with. That's the beauty of detoxing. Let us know how your explant went. Where are you and how did you pick your surgeon? Loriann,

Hi, sounds like you have come to the right place! Most

of us have similar lists of symptoms, they do vary

person to person, but there is usually someone who has

had the same experience. And guess what, we have ALL

HAD IMPLANTS! Its clear that this is a factor in all

of our stories.

Good luck with your surgery today! I know from

surgeons I've been talking to that it should be fine

to breastfeed after explant, even with a lift.

There is alot of information here and I hope that it

will help you! Please let us know how you are doing

with your recovery!

Katy:)

Oh, Loriann, thank you for letting us know. I have been thinking about you. Our Traci has had her implants removed, and is in the healing process. It makes me happy that you were able to have the capsules removed at the same time.

Please take it easy for quite a while, just do little things until you feel better.

Sending love and support....Lea

Re: New here- Getting my saline implants out...

Thank You Lea, Tricia and Katy for responding to my first posting here in this group.I had my implants removed 2 days ago. I insisted that the Dr remove the whole capsule (thank Gd I found this site the day before my surgery and found that out!) He did but said it was thin and he's pretty sure he got all of it. He said it looked healthy and the implants looked good. He is going to send a sample of the fluid to the lab for testing. So I am still sore but doing well. Not too bad at all. My right breast has a hard mass on the side and the peck is inflamed, the dr said it's prob. the muscle in spasm, but we will see next week how it is when I go to get my stiches out.I am happy I did this and look forward to moving forward! Lighter and hopefully healthier.I live in Toronto Canada and having implants removed is coved by OHIP. (Our medical system). Good for me!Thanks for reading....LoriAnn>> Hi,> > I'm not sure how this group works yet...> So I thought I'd share my story, hoping other members will write > back.> > I have had my saline breast implants in for 12 years now.> I have suffered with C.F.S. Hi All,

It's the new girl here- LoriAnn in Toronto and I was explanted 4

days ago.

I am soooooooooooooo happy.

I feel lighter even though I'm sore and taped up.

I love my new-old smaller boobs! I thought they would be all droopy

since I was'nt getting a lift, but to my surprise they are actually

pretty perky! I love em. I am now a b-c and with my impalnt a d-dd.

I think they actually look better than they did before I got

implants. Mmmm, or maybe I just appreciate them that much more.

For those who asked- I went to a doctor in the Toronto area who is a

regular Plastic surgeon, but who was willing to take them out and

listened to my conserns without dismissing the possibility that they

could be affecting my heALTH -CFS. I insisted he remove the capsule,

and even though he didn't agree, he did it. They look good. I had

drains in the first 2 days, now stiches for a few more days. I got

NO instruction for after care...do I need any?

The dr. is Dr. Mc clean in Mississauga.

Glad I found some friends out there to connect to about this (thats

you). I feel so good about getting those stupid water bags out! I

can only hope trust and pray that my health gets better and

better...for all of us.

LoriAnn, The major thing for aftercare is to wear a snug, but comfortable sports bra 24/7 until healing is well underway . .. That way, internal scar tissue will work to hold you up, instead of let you down! Also . .. you may feel really good - like you could do anything. Regardless, take it easy for a while. Your body will take a while to recover from the anesthesia alone. Drink a lot of water - at least eight glasses a day or 1/2 ounce for every pound of body weight. This will help flush any toxins set loose by surgery. Eat very healthy too . . . . Congradulations - and gentle hugs! Rogene

Hi LoriAnn,

Congratulations on your explant!! I feel the same way - I love my

small boobs now.

The doctor should tell you when you can shower, take baths, how long

you should remain bandaged up, if you should wear a sports bra after

the stitches are removed.

I actually have been rotating, no bra to wearing a sports bra. My

right breast was really hard and high so I massaged it -owch- and

didn't wear a bra for a day and it fell into place. But now that you

told me, i will wear the sports bra. I wasn't sure with the pressure

on the stiches area underneath....

Thank's!

Cheers!

Loriann, If the bra you wear feels uncomfortable, either modify it some way, or get another more comfortable one. It should not put pressure on sore spots . . . just gentle support all over. Rogene

Loriann,

The bra I'm wearing for my explant recovery, I bought

at Sears, Square One. It's a Vogue sportsbra, all

cotton. I think the style number is 31000.

Fruit of the loom also puts out a good sportsbra and

that can be purchased for a reasonable price at

Zellers.

Get feeling better soon!.
