Guest guest
Amy, you are also very blessed to have so many family members waiting in line should your time come that you need a kidney. What a special gift it is to give an organ.
Guest guest
Congratulations! Lots of positive energy coming out your way. You know the thing I found most strange about being diagnosed myself was that within a week of telling my family 2 of my sisters and my sister-in-law all asked me " What sort of testing do I need to go thru to donate a kidney to you? " It really took me aback that all 3 of them would be willing to just do it. I'm not at the stage of needing them yet but it was very touching that they all would even consider doing it when I do get there. I'm happy to hear you have found a match in your Aunt. Blessings, Amy So far, so good Hi everyone, I just had to write to post the excellent news...So far, my Aunt and another Uncle have both had their blood tested, and my Aunt tested completely negative for antibodies, my uncle tested slight positive...so my Aunt would be the best match to give me a kidney. I am not sure what the next step is....but I'm hoping it is not too much longer to schedule a date. I was just so happy to hear this news, I am ready to get back to college Oh, and my aunt is 42, and in great health...so we'll see how it goes, please pray! thanks. Hope you are all doing well...take care.
Guest guest
Hey ~! Great new, I will pray for you. do you know if they will consider your uncle with the slight positive? Or do they equate that to being kind of pregnant? You either are or not? Not being a smarty pants here, just asking for my own information. What year are you in at college? Hopefully you will be able to get back very soon. Keep us posted on all of the results! Guest guest
Oh , That sounds positively wonderful. I will keep you in my prayers. Please let us know right away when you get a date. oh, on those antibodies? They mix your blood with that of the donor's and if your blood doesn't react in some (idon't know what kind) way then the transplant goes ahead. Soooo, even if they had to go ahead and look at your uncle as a donor, he could still possibly be a donor. Guest guest
This is awesome to hear! It sounds like you are well on your way to a new kidney! When I think of all that you went through leading up to this, I am very glad that this is coming together! Guest guest
Hi Connie! As far as my uncle goes, they said he wasn't necessarily excluded, although i would receive my Aunts kidney much better(we both tested negative for any antibodies)..They do the antibodies on a scale from 0-99, and we both had 0(my aunt and i)...so I'm guessing that calling my Uncle's blood " slighty positive " would mean he probably has a few. I know he did fight off pneumonia last year, which could have been what made him produce the antibodies. I was a " junior and a half " when I was a business major...but after I got sick, I switched over to Nursing, which I will be starting in the Spring--I applied to Emory University, where I am ironically having my transplant. I hope you are doing well. How are you anyways? Take care, Connie! - > Hey ~! > Great new, I will pray for you. do you know if they will consider > your uncle with the slight positive? Guest guest
, Thanks for answering my question on antibodies. I'm really doing very well right now and finally back to my baseline and feeling much more like myself. You know in this environment, (work) they won't let you be sick or complain for too long. I guess that I got all of the babying that I was going to get the week I was out of work. That is all the guys can muster up, if you could only see my desk right now...got a match? Better yet, how about a stick of dynamite? Just kidding, I hope the place doesn't go up in smoke this afternoon, or my next posting will be from Canada! About school, will you be able to transfer some of your courses or will the change in your major set you back a ways? Also, I'd keep mentioning to the staff at the hospital that you will be in their nursing program after your transplant at their University. Hopefully that will insure that you get extra special care. You're going to be one of them... Keep us posted! Guest guest
Connie, I'm glad to hear that you are back to yourself--its a good place to be! You crack me up What do you do for a living? How's the s creatinine? Some of my classes with transfer, as far as the ones that go towards my nursing degree...Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Nutrition and Health. I won't be set back too badly, although I'm going to be working my tail off! My Grandmother(who lives with us now) was quite sick over the weekend, and I had to clean up some of her bodily fluids (sorry for the description)...But needless to say, because of that I think I'll make a GREAT nurse! hope you are continuing to do well! keep me up to date! ~ > > Hey ~! > > Great new, I will pray for you. do you know if they will > consider > > your uncle with the slight positive? Guest guest
, I know I am sort of late replying, but I just wanted to say CONGRATS! I hope you can get that kidney soon.
