Guest guest
Hi , For the past two nights, my bad leg has blown up to twice its size. When I talked to the rheumy yesterday, she didn't specifically say to take a water pill, but my GP did tell me to take one - not every day - but as needed. Do you wear support hose, too? Mine are knee highs and it still swells. I know my circulation is really bad, I get concerned about the DVT I had last summer coming back! I need to address that with her when she calls. I have to look and see how much potassium I'm supposed to take...I haven't taken it lately! Good reminder. Guest guest
When you say drinking lots of water what do you reccomend? I drink between 8 and 10 a day and still have problems with water retention. I'm not sure what to drink and when you say parsley do you use fresh and eat it? Thanks for your help. Guest guest
Cucumbers & parsley both will help. Also drinking lots of water will help too. > Hey, does anyone know about the foods that help fix water retention? > I've narrowed salt intake, but my WW meeting talked about there being > some foods that help as well, but I didn't have any paper to write > them down. Guest guest
With regards to water, 8 to 10 eight ounce classes is great. Parsley could be added to food, eaten by itself, and I have heard that there is even a parsley tea (but I haven't look for it). Remember that diet pop has sodium in it so if you are drinking lots of pop that could cause water retention for you. Diet Rite Cola is the only one that I am aware of that is sodium free and caffeine free. If you are eating lots of celery, it has natural sodium in it which will cause water retention. One cup has Sodium 104.4mg. So some of the " natural " foods we eat have natural sodium in them. You could check food out on http://www.fitday.com > When you say drinking lots of water what do you reccomend? I drink between 8 > and 10 a day and still have problems with water retention. Guest guest
You can also try it juiced. Health food stores have it and some of the larger grocery stores sell it mixed with other vegetable juice. Evolution, Odwala and Naked Juice are the brands I can think of. Also, I don't know how long you have been drinking that much water, but it can take a couple weeks for your body to realize it will be getting the water regularly. Until then it will hold onto the water. Thank you! Miriam Houghtaling Baby Stepping Since 03/2003 Y! Guest guest
I usually add a few slices of either lemons or limes. This tends to act as a natural diuretic(for me anyway) Lo > When you say drinking lots of water what do you reccomend? I drink between 8 > and 10 a day and still have problems with water retention. Guest guest
According to WW magazine cranberry juice and caffeinated drinks are the best well know diuretics. Anise, asparagus, celery, dandelion greens, eggplant, garlic, lemon, parsely and tea are also known diuretics. Moe water retention Hey, does anyone know about the foods that help fix water retention? I've narrowed salt intake, but my WW meeting talked about there being some foods that help as well, but I didn't have any paper to write them down. I would appreciate any help. I thought it might be too many diet sodas, but even switching to water hasn't really helped. I can just feel it in my body! Thanks! Guest guest
Just remember to count the points for the cranberry juice and for many, caffeine will increase your appetite. Thanks for the list. > According to WW magazine cranberry juice and caffeinated drinks are the best well know diuretics.
