Guest guest
Is anyone with an asd child using butter or is everyone with an asd child using substitutes like oil, cocoanut oil, or ghee instead? Is butter safe to use or not? Or can you use it after a while on the diet like the yogurt? I am currently using the custom probiotics acidopholis powder and no dairy products. 5 yrs old gfcf 3m scd 1m
Guest guest
, I think it really depends on the child. Since you've been doing SCD for only one month, my suggestion would be to wait. Give yourself sometime to get well established. Then after a few months, try a little and look for any negative reactions. We've been doing SCD for over 9 months now, and I occassionally give some to my ASD son. I don't notice any reaction. But mostly I use coconut oil, olive oil, and safflower oil. Guest guest
, It's not a stupid question.I can't say for everyone, but I don't use butter. Some say that it is safe, but it has minute amounts of milk protien in it.On the other hand ghee(clarified butter)is completely safe and has no milk protien in it.We haven't started yogurt yet,but I certainly hope that one day we can use that sweet cream yummy butter. For the time being we don't use ghee, but that is just because I've not needed it in anything that he eats at this point, but I will definately put it back in when we do baked goods. Hope this helps. DeAnn,mom to 3.10 asd,scd 8+weeks
Guest guest
My oldest son (HFA) reacts to dairy by peeing on himself and becoming more emotional and by staring off into space. He has no reaction from butter. Even gluten/casein free, I never avoided butter. We are doing SCD without cheese/yogurt but are using cultured butter. We use coconut oil, olive oil, and butter for cooking. > Is anyone with an asd child using butter or is everyone with an asd > child using substitutes like oil, cocoanut oil, or ghee instead?
