Yoga involves stretching of various muscles. Indian custom is to sit on

floor with legs folded in front for taking food. One has to bend forward to

reach the plate. Further prayers are also performed sitting in a similar

position. This involves, exercising all leg muscles a number of times each

day, 365 days a year! Getting down/Bending/Getting up......

(We should practice falling as well as GETTING UP)

(Bill Gates who was in India a couple of months back was made sit on floor ,

he found it very difficult to get up, photos were in News Papers!)

-----------

But for the last 2 generations habits have changed. I have never sat on the

floor to take food. & so......

------------------------

Anyway. We can't sit on floor & perform " yoga " - I mean sitting with legs

folded in front or sit butt on foot like the Japanese do.

I have found a way to do these on my bed. I have tied a nylon rope to one of

the legs of my bed. I have a cloth tied on to the rope with cloth knots 4 of

them, at convenient intervals. (this is for painless holding)

What I do is sit on my bed with legs folded in front holding on to the

knots. My wife helps me to push my legs & feet in.

I get up on all fours from a lying down position. Lot of effort! & go on to

sit in Japanese style.

Both are painful to begin with. But I am feeling the pain has reduced with

time.

I sit in these positions for 10 minutes. I feel all the muscles at shoulder,

hips, thighs, inner thighs, foot etc are all getting exercised improving

blood flow & tone.

I am doing this for 5 weeks now. I think that I will have to continue this

for many months to see improvement.

--------------------------------------

When I get the improvement I will unsubscribe myself!
