Guest guest
I had gastric by-pass surgery and was told to only take calcium citrate. the doctor told me that calcium carbonate will not absorb as well and is more likely to cause kidney stones. It's supposed to be the easiest form of calcium supplement to take (easiest on the stomach, etc.). I have osteoporosis, so have to take 2 tabs a day (this gives me a total of 800 mgs of calcium and 800 IU of Vitamin D). Check with you doctor to see what amount of calcium you should be taking, as well as what amount of Vitamin D. It can be very dangerous to take too much Vit. D. It could be the form of calcium that you're taking that could be causing your stomach problems (carbonate, that is), or it could be a binder that's in the pill that's causing it (some are bound with substances that can cause problems). All, I don't think calcium is supposed to help with fibromyalgia...haven't heard that. If anyone knows differently, please let me know. Hope this helps. Thanks much!
