Guest guest
Hi all, I haven't had a chance to check all of the emails for two weeks. Mom went into the hospital two weeks ago. She was bleeding again from her bladder. They did another scope and cauterized. The cancer still hasn't come through the bladder. Praise God! However, while we were there we saw her Gastrologist for her vomiting problem. Before we went in, she was only vomiting once a day. She was able to have jello, liquids, and some applesauce. In the hospital they gave her too many fluids via IV and this caused her to vomit constantly while there. Once the fluids were turned off it subsided somewhat. But even being home now for a week, she seems to be getting worse. While in hospital the Gastrologist did some tests. He, the surgeon, and our Oncologist all agree that she probably has one or more blockages in her small intestine again. They say even though they couldn't get down far enough to see the blockage, it is highly unlikely that she is just blocked from stool in her colon. They sent her home and said they couldn't do anything more for her. They gave her 2-6 weeks to live. She is dehydrated. Can't keep anything down, including liquids, and getting weaker everyday. They expect that her potassium to drop low enough for her heart to stop. It was 2.5 when she went into the hospital. 2.8 when she left. We don't understand how this could be happening so fast. And wonder if the doctors are right about this being a small intestine blockage and not just constipation. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
