Guest guest
<<For those that take diabetes drugs (to lower blood sugar) which ones do you take>> AVANDAMET that is what I take and I haven't had any ill effects from it however I started taking that about the time I began 2 new meds for lowering cholesterol and one of these drugs caused me to have sores on my tongue, so bad the first week all I could eat was ice cream and popsicles now I notice it if I eat something too salty. So that nips the chips in the bud plus things are beginning to taste weird, all the bad foods. Coke doesn't taste the same so I drink water or aplle, orange juice. That is my 2 cents. Guest guest
Hi, I take 1500 mg Glucophage, 1.5 mg Prandin with every meal, and 30 mg Actos. The Glucophage sometimes upsets my stomach. When this happens, it gets so bad that I have to not take it for a few days. When it gets better, I go back on it. The Prandin is the drug that makes me starving, but it works. I can't tell anything with the Actos. It has no side effects on me, and I can't tell that it does anything for my numbers either. These are my experiences. Everyone is different. Guest guest
> My Doctor told me the other day that to stay off meds I have to remain Jany, My initial A1C when diagnosed (last fall) was 7.6. I started off on just Avandia (2 mg), then metformin (500 mg) was added. I finally ended up on Avandamet 2/500 (2 mg Avandia combined with 500 mg metformin) three times a day. It does a good job for me, except my fasting bg is still a little elevated, but nothing seems to correct that. My second A1C, about 3-4 months after diagnosis, was 6.0. I am still on the Avandamet 3 times a day and will have my next A1C in August. I have no side effects from the Avandamet, not even when I first started on it. I did find, thru trial and error, that it works best for me when taken 1/2 hour before meals. I have no idea whether the doctor will take me off meds if I reach a magic A1C number. I would be worried about an increase if I went off them because I have forgotten a pill once or twice and my bg was elevated as a result. Are you having any side affects on them? " I take 1000 mg. of glucaphage with breakfast and dinner, and 45 mg of actos with dinner. When I first started glucophage, it gave me the runs. I make sure I always take it after I have food in my stomach, and I no longer have a problem.
