Guest guest
Hi, y'all First, thanks to all who post recipes/food ideas. They're very helpful. and thanks to all who answered my question. So I've been mulling this all over and the other day, I had a little revelation of sorts, and way to look at things that makes me less angry and fearful, and a little stronger and more hopeful, so I thought I'd share it. I'd been thinking about diabetes as a disease -- like all diseases I have a mental image of a kind of monster with a will, a life of its own. But the other day, I thought, what if this diabetes is just the body's way of letting me know what it needs and what it doesn't need? Not a disease out to get me, but a guide that will let my body do its thing. As I get older, there's clearly certain things my body can't handle -- Mc's gives me heartburn, dairy products make me... well, you know. Which means my body can't handle what's in them very well, so it's telling me to do something different. For dairy products there's lactaid, for Mcs there's...whatever. So now my body doesn't handle sugars very well. Okay, so give it what it can handle. If it do that, it'll be good to me. I don't know if this'll make sense to anyone else, but it's helpful to me. It let's me think of my body as a partner, not the enemy. vicky
