Guest guest
Hi Pat, thank you! Maybe this will tell you what foods we have at Thankksgiving! TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP. THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION. SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE. I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES, PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES. I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND, 'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND. I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE. BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES.... HAPPY EATING TO ALL PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE. MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP. MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP, MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE, MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS. HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING! to all Canadians on the list Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadians on the list! Ruth
Guest guest
I have known Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving earlier than we in the states, but I'm not sure why. The pilgrims who landed at what would become known as Plymouth Massachusetts in 1620 are the reason we in the states have a Thanksgiving, but why do Canadians celebrate a similar event at this time of the year? And, why do they enjoy very many of the same foods we traditionally enjoy? I could presume the Canadians copied our celebration, but I might also think they have an all together different reason. Sorry, I know this is a bit off topic, but I hope the moderator will not mind too much! Thanks. Dave to all Canadians on the list Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadians on the list! Guest guest
Hi Dave, Good question! I wonder if it's because our harvest comes a little earlier because of the weather? Not really sure. All I know is that it means good eats as 's poem says.
