Krista ~

Please invite your friend to the hood.....

our Sisterhood, that is.......

NO, the scar caps do not get absorbed

by the body.

I am glad you have 5 friends that are ok .......

so far......I hope they continue to be ok as well.

Hugs Dede

Hello all you fabulous ladies. I have a new friend who has decided

that her implants are being explanted!! Woo Hoo! I'm trying to tell

her that she needs to get them removed " en bloc " . But, she had some

questions for me. Can all you experts help me out with how to answer

her, I don't want to give her the wrong answer. Here is her question:

Krista I have a question about removing the capsule en bloc. I asked

my plastic surgeon about that, and he said If I wanted him to he would

remove as much as possible, but he did say that if the capsule is

really adheared to chest wall that there is a risk of puncturing a

lung if they are aggressive about removing all of it,and also

bleeding. He said he would remove the capslule on top of the implant

and see about the rest when he get's in there. He said over time the

capsule will go away I guess reabsorbe into the body. GREAT!! what

did your plastic surgeon say about removal of the capsule. I do not

think my dr does a lot of explants without replacement. But I do

think he is a good surgeon. Five of my friends have been to him and

none of them have had problems YET!!!

Thanks for all your help!

Love, Krista

Krista,

I have to say there is some truth in what her doctor said about the

capsules....they really can adhere to the chest wall and this can make

the removal difficult.

They do need to remove the capsule from all around the implant...not

just on top. I know from my surgical report that getting the capsule

from off my ribs was probably one of the most difficult parts of the

surgery.

Capsules do not get absorbed by the body - case in point... Lea (still has hers, very sick), Nan had hers (very sick - had to have another surgery to have them removed... more $$), Sandy (very sick - just had her capsules removed too, more $$).

Krista - I am so proud of you about getting to word out. I would do the same if I new anybody with implants.

Thanks Lynn! I'm only doing what all you guys have done for me. I will

continue to do what I can even after all of this is said and done for

me. It's just what I feel is right in my heart.

I let her know that she needed to get the capsules out too, and I

asked her to join our group. So, hopefully she will!
