Just wondering....how many of you ladies have been explanted through

the aerola or nipple area? Did you have a total capsulectomy? Did the

doctor drain the implant first? Did you use drains afterward?

Did you have a lift?

Thanks,

Patty

I was explanted through an incision under my breasts.

I did have a total capsulectomy.

She did not drain the implants first (I had silicone)

She did use drains afterwards

I did not have a lift.

Hi Patty,

I was explanted through the nipple area. My doctor told me that he

was going to use the en bloc procedure but his idea of en bloc is to

remove half the capsule and then drain the implant and then remove the

other part of the capsule. I do not remember having drains afterwards.

One of them got infected and swelled up for a while. I found your

website afterwards and had an MRI that showed very small spills. Dr.

Lee (who I went to for a second opininion) said that my doctor did a

great job and that I had no more silicone in me than someone who would

have had it done en bloc. No, I did not have a lift. My breasts look

almost perfect. Thank God.

Hugs,

Joanne

Joanne and Patty,

Sometimes I wonder about Dr. Lee.

Joanne,

I'm trying to follow what you said about your explant, but if I

understood you right, your said that your doctor drained the silicone

gel first??? (Clarify for me....Did you have silicone gel or

salines?) If you meant that he drained the silicone gel, then I'm

stunned! I've never heard of that!

When you had your MRI that showed very small spills, they found loose

silicone in your body from the implants?

That is exactly what an en bloc removal is supposed to PREVENT!~

I'm surprised Dr. Lee made the comment he did. But I am sure he was

trying to be encouraging. The main goal is for you to feel better

and get your life back.

How are you doing?

Bindi,

You just had an internal lift?? That is what my

surgeon wants to do with insicision around the areola,

but I was worried that that wouldn't be a dramatic

enough lift. She wants to go with fewer scars and then

do more of a lift later if necessary. I am not that

big so she thinks it will be effective. Do they just

redistribute the tissue or something?

Thanks!

Patty,

I had silicone. I believe that he told me that he removed half of

the capsule and then drained the implant so that he could reach

around and get the remainder of the capsule. I had asked him to do

this en bloc as I had just found your website (4 years ago) and he

assured me that he was going to do it en bloc. I got very sick after

explantation and could not work for about a year. I had the second

opinion with Dr. Lee and felt reasured after he said that Dr. Suzuki

did a good job. Now I feel sick about all this. I just don't sleep

well, 4 years later and feel like an atomic bomb at times. Is there

any hopes for me to get this stuff out of my system?

Thanks, Joanne
