Guest guest
Hi there Val.... June here - I started on the Isocort protocol from your info yesterday. I haven't reduced my 3 grains Armour yet but know to look out for symptoms of thyroid dumping..... Question: I am on Asthma inhalers; 2 puffs of blue and 2 puffs of brown inhaler twice daily...will this affect the way I dose on Isocort? I did not take my asthma medication 2 days before and on the day of the Salivery Adrenal Stress Test ( as advised by NPTech) though adrenal function still showed quite bad adrenal insufficiency.... Thank again Regards June

There are many different kinds and strengths of these and if they are steroid, it kind of makes your saliva testing null and void. ALL steroids change adrenal function. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Val, the inhalers are: 100mg Ventolin - a salbutamol sulphate. 2 puffs morning & evening. Becalzone 100 Easi-Breathe (Beclometasone 200 metered dose) - 2 puffs morning & evening. Thanks June > I need to know the NAME of the inhalers. Guest guest
The Beclazone inhaler is corticosteroids. And WILL affect your saliva testing. The other one nto so much I could not findwhere it is steroidal at all, but this one is. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets
Guest guest
Hi Val - Ron (NPTech) assured me that if I didn't take either inhalers the day before the test and the day of the test that it would OK and not affect the test????? The second salivery adrenal stress test results without inhalers were slightly different from the first results, however were still bad regards cortisol levels. This is my second day on Isocort (1 x am) should I stop now or carry on? Regards June > > The Beclazone inhaler is corticosteroids. And WILL affect your saliva > testing. It takes at least 2 weeks off the steroid for the adrneals to go back to their full amount they can produce, thus why I say to be pff steroids for at least 2 weeks before testing or you WILL always come up showing too low. He is wrong. He is totally forgetting abou tthe supressive efects of steroids on the adrenal funcitonm and it doesn't come back up over night or we would all be able to wean off steroids MUCH easier than we actually can/. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Val - I have re-posted my last 3 saliv adrenal stress index tests from NPTech because in view of me taking the inhalers I now have a couple of more questions (sorry).... Date 8am Range NMOL/L 12 noon Range NMOL/L 4pm Range NMOL/L Midnight Range NMOL/L June `06 18.5 6.0-33.0 7.9 4.0-28.0 7.0 1.0-11.8 4.0 1.0-5.0 July `07 1.1 12.0-33.0 7.4 10.0-28.0 1.8 6.0-11.8 9.6 1.0-5.9 Sept `07 10.9 12.0-33.0 2.6 10.0-28.0 2.2 6.0-11.8 1.0 1.0-5.9 June 2006 results were just after I started Nutri Adrenal Extra (NAE) and before I started Armour. July 2007 was the test I questioned and Septemeer 2007 was teh test NPTech did foc but this time without the inhaler meds. I stopped taking NAE a few weeks back now and am still taking 3 grains Armour. Question: Looking at the results, do you still think I should continue with Isocort? This is my 3rd morning and I'm good with it and actually have slept well too..... Question: If yes stay on the Isocort, should I rethink the dosing schedule.... Question: If yes and I say on Isocort, should I then try and reduce my Armour over time? I realise this is a lot to ask Val but I would appreciate your opinion on this.... Having thought about what you said Val - a whole lot more now makes sense because when I take the inhalers regularly when I have a chest infection or bronchitis (which I get a lot!) I then must be depressing my cortisol further when it is obviously in need of bumping up by stress dosing??? Regards June x > > >> Hi Val - Ron (NPTech) assured me that if I didn't take either > inhalers the day before the test and the day of the test that it would > OK and not affect the test?????<< > > What happens is that the steroid supresses your own cortiosl production. Guest guest
You can try the Isocort, but plan on going to stronger meds.I do nto knwo how pften you use the inhalers or especially how regularly, but thta carry the same dire warningsa as using to much HC in that over time if you are using high dose they can and will shut your own adrneals down. This may be what you are dealing wiht rather than classic adrenal fatigue, or the weak adrenals (or hypothyroid) may be the cause of your breathing problems. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Thinking all this through Val I am sure you are right...This is something that should be a contra indication for hypothyroid patients BEFORE they are prescribed inhalers.... Although supposed to take 2 puus twice daily of the 'bad' one I do tend to forget some days but have been prescribed this for over 2 years now!!!! No wonder my poor adrenals have been struggling.... I stopped the inhalers as soon as we began this discussion - I don't have a chest infection nor doing too much just now - and plan to continue on the protocol on your dosing help page....This is day 3 and I feel good so will up to include a lunchtime dose tonorrow....Sound OK to you? Guest guest
That should be fine! What amazes me is how many children and teenagers are prescribed these inhalers FREELY with no warnings at all abotu steroids! -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets
