Guest guest
Include Erbitux: Cetuximab, C225, IMC225 ( I have found that when different equivalent names are used in a search engine the results are often quite different, some you may prefer much more than others) > Use a search engine such as http://www.google.com/ > or http://www.yahoo.com/ for all the info on any in the list > > (1) Camptosar: CPT-11, irinotecan, irinotecan hydrochloride, > camptothecin camptosar > > (2) 5FU or 5-FU: (the " oldest " chemo) > 5-fluorouracil > > (3) leucovorin: (Not a " chemo " ,but the active form of the B complex > vitamin, folate used as an antidote to drugs that decrease levels > of folic acid)Also called: Citrovorum,Wellcovorin, folinic acid > > (4)FUDR: Floxuridine, fluorodeoxyuridine > > (5)Oxaliplatin: Eloxatin > > (6)Saltz regimen: 5FU/CPT-11/leucovorin > > (7)Folfox: Oxaliplatin plus 5FU and leucovorin > (5FU could possibly be replaced by Xeloda now) > It has been stated that Iressa, which was ineffective alone > against colon cancer is of significant benefit with Folfox > > (8)Xeloda: (The oral form of 5FU):Capecitabine > > (9) Avastin: (Antiangiogenesis, preventing tumors from forming > blood vessels. Guest guest
Ed: Thank you so much for taking time, especially during this difficult time for you, to continue to help people affected by colon cancer to better understand the very complicated information they need to deal with. As they say, " The apple does not fall far from the tree. " You and your wife certainly raised a wonderful son. I know that everyone on this board really appreciates having you continue some of the work started by . I know he must be so proud. Guest guest
This list is a great one to add to the links, because all those equivalent names got me so confused in the beginning and still do somewhat. They would probably be really helpful to save to the links. I would be happy to post a list to the links, and will include some anti-nausea meds too - if people can send lists of suggestions. It may take a bit of time. Wishing were here to tell me how. I'm sure it is pretty easy ... I'll give it a try. What do you think? Guest guest
It's a good idea Laurie...I'm not familiar with doing these things either, but we're going to have to get beyond that because getting info and getting it organized is of utmost importance. Also, getting more people to use those search engines and to learn the quirks of these search engines too. I was surprised to find that a different ref list might come up merely because I used a different equivalent drug name for example. Thank you very much for your reply. Guest guest
Ed- I'd like to second Amie's thank you for raising such a wonderful son. I am so happy that you are helping out on this board. Thank you also for the list of equivalent names. Without knowing the equivalence, It can be very confusing to evaluate clinical trials and other literature.
