Just back from our 2nd visit and this is what the doc had to say......

Provisionally she thinks that Andy's dx is language disorder ,with

some autistic characteristics .He is also very immature for his age

(no get away, really???) .He has poor receptive language ,she also

mentioned Sensory Integration and Motor Disorder. We go back in a few

weeks and by then the doc and the SLT will have collated all their

results.

And it goes on........

Geez, Ali..... 1+1+1+1+1 = 439?

I dunno.... a language disorder, poor receptive, SID, a motor planning

problem, immaturity (oh, as in being developmentally delayed???)......

" some " autistic characteristics?

Yes, 439 sounds right then.....

I don't know why they have to drag this out. Sorry that you're having to

play the waiting game. I've been there, and do understand the frustration,

the relief, the hoping, the anger, the anxiety, and nerves. I hope the next

few weeks passes quickly for you, and that at the end of it, they come up

with a good accurate Dx for Andy.

Take heart, Ali - - - a lot of us have played this exact game.

Grace - who is allegedly a mom to Sydney with " global speech delay " - - and

Madison with " possible PDD - mild " <BAH HUMBUG!> " Not autism, thank

heavens " I thought................. <sigh>

That was a suggested diagnosis for . Then it was PDD-NOS before they

finally settled on ASD. I say suggested because they refused to put anything on

paper for 2 years. I still remember when I finally got the report. I actually

thanked god that someone had put 's dx in writing.

Hang in there, Ali

Thanks Tuna :-)

we came out of the meeting a bit shell shocked ,dh was spitting

feathers!! He wants to know why the autism doc and the SLT are the

ones doing the dx ,they've never mentioned the members of Andy's team-

the SLT that has been seeing him for 13 months ,the educational

psychologist, the home educationalist ,the nursery and his key worker.

*sigh*

I just feel backed into a corner and I don't know what to do anymore.

Ali

still hanging in there - just

Did either of you point that out to the " team " ? Not that it probably would

have made any difference, I'm just curious as to their response.
