Subject: Re: codliver oil and evening primrose

This is just my .02, but I would see if you could get your child

tested for

a deficency. Vitamin A can be toxic because you don't urinate it

out like

the b vitamins. I'm afraid to give it to my daughter and my

doctor doesn't

recommend it. Again, this is just my opinion.

Someone may have already addressed this, so this may be a repeat,

Vitamin A in fat soluble form i.e., Cod Liver Oil can be toxic,

however, most Vitamin A in multi-vitamins is water soluble, so

what you don't use you pee out...as our neuro explained it to me.

Dr. Megson ALWAYS checks the levels of Vitamin A & D before

she starts her treatment of Cod Liver Oil. Since Dr. Megsons

report in February, it has concerned me the number of parents

putting their children on Cod Liver Oil without testing first,

and in fact, our neuro did not have a problem with the protocol,

but he wanted her tested first...so I've been an advocate of

having your child tested BEFORE you start the CLO. We plan on

checking Jess' levels every 6 months, which will be in

August....and we have seen a tremendous improvement in her eye

contact and even other vision-related matters since we've been at

full dosage. For anyone interested in Dr. McGuinness' protocol

on administering Cod Liver Oil, please email me privately and I

will send to you. He also recommends administering Vit. E & C a

few days before starting Cod Liver Oil and he also lists the

dosage for varying ages of children. I think it very unwise to

start immediately on a full dosage of CLO, since you will

probably see an increase in self-stimming and other things, which

I noticed within 2 days of putting Jess on 5000 ius a day. When

I stopped & reintroduced I did it at 1250 ius increments, which

took us longer to get to the recommended dosage, but I'm glad I

tried it that way, because of the improvements we've seen.
