Guest guest
April, Your symptoms sound just like those of many women with implants. Where are you? You can read many stories on this site of women with similar health problems. I have no doubt your problems are from your implants. Guest guest
Hi April, I'm glad you found us! Where are you? I'm in Toronto, Canada. I was explanted on July 19th, 2007 and am so glad those toxic bombs are out. I had had my bi-lumen implants for 19 years. I am now 39 years old. I am in shock and can’t believe that these toxic bags of crap have caused me so much pain. My right breast was so swollen that it felt like I am was growing a breast under my arm pit. Hence, that’s why I called them my “enboobies”. Here are the symptoms and medical problems I have endured the past 19 years: * Uterine cancer = hysterectomy in 1997 – am now 10 years cancer free * Hypothyroidism * Depression * Restless legs * Dry skin * Sleep difficulties * Dry eyes * Brain fog * Weight gain (over 100 pounds) * Clogged milk duct (removed 1998) * Chronic pain in right breast due to Baker’s IV grade capsule contracture * Possible rupture in left breast * Hair loss (and we are talking handfuls here) * And I know there’s more, but can’t think of it right now The fact alone that these are not lifetime devices is proof that the implants need to come out. From what you've described, it sounds like your implants are causing your health problems. This is a wonderful group where you'll get lots of support and love. Guest guest
April, Welcome....welcome! You have found the group for you! My name is Cherie and I just found this group myself around the end of August. I, like you, started having GI problems about 10 months ago. I had my implants inserted almost two years ago now, November 2005. I have seen 9 Drs. in the last 10 months and the only diagnosis I have recevied is acid reflux. I, like you, have had trouble digesting my food. My pain started like irritable bowel syndrome however medications for it were unsuccessful. I had many, many tests and even had a diagnosis of Gastro Paresis (delayed stomach emptying) however that turned out to be a misdiagnosis. I have also been in and out of the hospital and had my gallbladder removed. After process of elimination, I began to wonder if this was caused by my implants since I was fairly healthy prior to insertion. I also have sinus fungal issues and candida AND had them prior to implants however the implants have made my symptoms worse. I started researching on the interent to see if IBS can be caused my implants. They can!! I found this group and discovered that I do need my implants removed however they need to be removed properly. All of the scar tissue needs to be removed along with implants. I am actually flying to Denver next month and having mine removed from a Dr. that this group recommended for explantation. I so understand your desire to be well again! Please know that you are at the right place! All of these ladies have gone thru this and can answer your questions! Hope my story helps and brings you hope! Guest guest
Hi April, I've always had a weak immune system which I believe made me a terrible candidate for implants. It's possible the same may be true for you as well. Once I got implants my joints all swelled up, my bones ached, and I had brain fog, but the very first sign that things were wrong was my digestive system. Within a week of getting implants I had terrible heartburn all the time, and I also was not digesting my food like I was - I could tell based on the " end result " . This continued the entire time I had implants, and I had to take digestive enzymes daily or else I'd be in trouble. Now that I've been explanted, things have improved considerably as far as my digestive system goes. I still struggle with the brain fog, and the joint swelling is mostly confined to my thumbs now rather than my knees, ankles, elbows, etc. I also developed a humming sound in my right ear and I haven't been able to do anything about that. I think you're correct when you wonder if the implants are ticking time bombs. That's why I had mine removed, because I felt that they were doing harm to my body and I didn't want them in my body. I have heard of women who didn't have any symptoms until their implants started deflating, and yes they can be full of some pretty nasty germs. You have no way of knowing if your implants have a slow leak, or if they have a faulty valve. I only had mine six months and don't feel the cause of my problems was a leak - I think my body reacted to either the chemicals that the implant was made from or just the fact that there was something foreign in my body and my body started putting all it's energy into attacking the invader. I'm glad you were able to see improvements in your health by making the changes you mentioned, although you probably can only regain a certain level of your health while the implants are in your body. Guest guest
April, Your naturopath was right on . . . His diagnoses were the same as implanted women battle . . . even for a while after having their implants removed. I hope you can continue under his care! . . . In the meantime, your implants have to go if you're going to get back to living any kind of life. As bad as it is right now, it can get much, much worse! . . . You've found the right group . . . now you need to find the right doctor and get busy detoxing! . . . Not the easiest thing to do . . . but well worth everything it takes to get there! Guest guest
Thank you all for your advice and your encouragement. In one way I am relieved to be finding some answers. But on the other hand it is really scary to think about the process of getting these implants out. I wish so much that this information I'm finding now was more readily available to me 6 years ago. I researched for a year before getting my implants. I remember seeing negative information about them, but that was mainly about silicone filled implants, not saline. My husband and I read over the " studies " and looked at all the statistics they gave. It seemed, based on the information available, that the main risks were cosmetic. I can remember seeing a picture of a moldy implant and reading a few things about saline implants being dangerous. But they were always refuted by people claiming that the women who complained of problems associated w/the implants were crazy or just looking for someone to blame for their health problems. I just can't believe that now I am one of those women! And we are NOT crazy! The more I think about this, the more angry I become. Some of you asked where I live. I live near Fort Worth Texas. I have read a lot about Dr.Melmed in Dallas. I think when get my explantation done it will be with him. Thanks again. You'll hear from me again soon with more questions! ) April
Guest guest
April, Jusd be very sure that Dr. Melmed is going to do a complete capsulectomy, because we have had problems getting him to do that with saline implants. He always does it with silicone implants. Many women have decided not to use him because of this. If you can get a firm commitment to do this, I think he would be fine. Guest guest
Hi April, Welcome to this group. You will find lots of information and support here. You are right about them being ticking time bombs and we say it is like playing Russian Roulette with your health. I had silicone implants for 20 years. I noticed some health problems but about 18 months ago, my health took a quick spiral downward. I have been explanted but I'll have to work very hard now to regain my health. I wouldn't advise people to take a chance. > > > Hello all, > > I'm really glad I found this group. Guest guest
Hi April, Welcome to the group! I just posted My Story this morning which explains the breast implant/digestive issue connection. I want to urge you to take action quickly. Don't make the same mistake as I, waiting and wondering if there is a connection...there is. It sounds like you're on the right track with your naturopath and supplements. However, that alone will not regain your health until you get the implants out. Mine were Mentor smooth saline round and had faulty valves which caused the candida to multiply at a greater rate. You are so wise to be looking into this now and taking action. Good luck and if you have any questions, please ask. - PH > > > Hello all, > > I'm really glad I found this group. Guest guest
April, I went with Melmed and he was fabulous in every way. You can have a free consult with him and talk it over-- he's very sympathetic. He also answers questions via email. emelmed@... He always removes capsules from women with silicone implants and women with saline who are symptomatic. You can certainly ask him about this. His fee is also less expensive than the other docs who are recommended here. Bindi
Guest guest
Hi April- You have a A LOT of responses to read here :-). These ladies are wonderful and you came to the right place! It looks like they've already given you a lot of great advice, I just wanted to say that I can relate to you as well. I was diagnosed with IBS and lactose intolerancy 6 months after I got my implants. It has been tummy trauma since! I felt " okay " for the first 3 years of having them, but one of them ruptured this past spring and since then my health has taken a serious nose dive! I'm only 29 years old and I feel like a 90 year old lady most days. I have intense fatigue, brain fog, strange aches and pains and many other things. My doctor has ran every test under the sun and now thinks it is the implants. I'm having my explant on November 9th by Dr. Huang. I simply can't wait to be flat chested and natural again! I never thought I'd say that. But, like you....I just want my health back! These things ARE a ticking time bomb and you ARE doing the right thing by getting them removed. Please keep in touch because there is a wonderful amount of support here. I really feel like these ladies have " gone through the fire with me. " Oh, and please read all of the files and links on the left side. Those really helped me with all of this too. Love, Krista > > > Hello all, > > I'm really glad I found this group.
