Guest guest
Do you ever feel like a broken record and that people don't really care to hear you talk about celiac again...? Well I had 2 experiences this week I wanted to share that make me want to keep talking about celiac. Months ago a neigbor was going to watch my kids for me for a few hours and when I dropped them off I went over what she could and couldn't feed my daughter. Her mom was there visiting from out of town and started asking me a lot of questions. I stayed for a little and talked her ear off (I was late for my meeting ) and she mentioned that she had another younger daughter that had a lot of the symptoms. I kind of thought that was the end of it until I saw my neighbor the other day and she said. Hey I wanted to tell you, my mom got my sister tested and she has Celiac Disease! The other one is kind of my mom's story. Our GIG is having a walk tomorrow and I aksed my mom if any of her friends at work would like to sponsor my family. I guess she was just going to send an email to a few people that she thought might be interested, but then at the last minute she sent it to the whole company. She works for a company with over 200 employees. Within a couple of hours she got back emails from 2 co-workers telling her that they each had a child who had been recently diagnosed and they were feeling overwhelmed and lonely. My mom gave each of them my number and they will probably be coming to the walk tomorrow to see what kind of things they can get involved in and to show their kids that they are not alone! It just drove home to me how important it is that we keep talking so we can raise awareness and help more people to understand this disease! Hope to see everyone in Utah at the walk tomorrow!!
