Guest guest
I think I see an all-or-nothing mentality here. Who says you have to legalize ALL junk food? What about just the ones that you like and they taste good to you? And what about working towards a balance. Yes, of course, I think all of us want to work towards "health" which is why we are here. Is clean eating leading to "health" 100% of the time? I don't think so. Is one bolgna sandwich going to kill you? I dont think so. Just some of my thoughts. --Alana -------------- Original message -------------- ....And the eating clean bit...I can't seem to get past this with IE. Even if I were to try and legalize junk foods to myself to resist the dieting mentality, the health aspect comes into mind and it's even harder to go against that. After reading so many fitness and healthy magazines I can't erase what I know about certain foods being bad for your body. Not to mention that I recently had some precancerous cells found in a PAP smear that I have to get rechecked for in 2 months- how can I feel good about eating bologna or something and have that on my mind? sigh.> >> ! > > So, Press, if you do ANYTHING physical at> > all, it's still more than 85% of the people> > around you do. Guest guest
Alana: This is a good point and this took me awhile to figure out. I think when people first read IE, this totally includes me, they think legalizing food means going on a junkfood diet. That's not necessarily true for everyone. If you WANT to eat more sweets for awhile, you're free to do so if your body wants it. If you want to eat nothing but tacos, your free to do so if your body wants it. It's really all about eating what you want and eating what your body is asking for be it brownie or lentils. If you have days where you don't eat so healthfully, but it's what you want. That's fine. Some days you may have days where all you want is fruit. That's cool, too. It's learning to not freak out and to be cool with food. People don't always eat 100% healthily and that's okay. Don't know if I make sense. I finally now get what Geneen Roth was trying to say with that stupid chocolate chip cookie story. Listen to your body and respect it's choices. Trying to separate moral judgements, emotions and shame from eating is harder. > > I think I see an all-or-nothing mentality here. Who says you have to legalize ALL junk food?
