Plaquenil is NOT a pain medication meant to be a help for acute (sudden

onset) pain.

In other words, taking plaquenil is NOT like taking codeine or darvocet

or some other type of pain medication. Plaquenil works by adjusting the

way the body reacts to pain in the joints. It takes several weeks (12-16

weeks) before you may begin to notice any difference in your pain

levels.

During that time other pain medications can be taken such as Celebrex,

Vioxx, Ultram, Darvocet, Advil, or other over the counter

anti-inflammatory drugs.

Celebrex treats pain caused by arthritis. It is a special type of

non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) called a COX-2 inhibitor.

If you are allergic to aspirin, sulfa drugs, or other anti-inflammatory

medicines such as Motrin or Naprosyn, then you should NOT take Celebrex.

Warning: do not take any indigestion medication within 4 hours of

Plaquenil.

If you have a problem with nausea after taking plaquenil, try taking the

medication with food.

Please remember .. I am not a doctor.. I am quoting articles taken from

Medical sites on the internet .. do not stop any medications or begin

another medication without first talking with your doctor.
