Infection after explant

It's been awhile since I was explanted but

I still have the capsules. My implants were removed

after a rupture. I chose not to have them replaced

because I was ill. Last week I found a lump in my breast

when I was taking a shower. The breast that had turned

black after the rupture. Within a few days the lump was

so big I couldn't put my arm down to my side and green fluid

started coming out of where my surgery scar is. The er

gave me an iv with antibiotics. My family doctor did a

culture and called today to say I have an antibiotic resistant

strain of staph. How could staph get in my breast? Could this be

related to still having capsules? I feel sick ALL the time,

CFS and fibromyalgia. Should I have another surgery?

Wow, sorry to hear of your illness ! ! It is difficult

to say, but from what I remember, contamination at

the hospital is a source of that staph. Where do

you live? What did they say they were going to do

to help you ? You definately need to get the scar

capsules out of you. They will be a nightmare to

you for years if you dont. I dont know if you should

get that staph infection under control first or not. I

believe so tho. Did they do a sensitivity on the culture

they did so they could find out which antibiotic would

take care of the staph? Bless your heart, please

feel free to read all you can in the archives here, there

is lots of information here. Welcome to the group here !

You will find lots of lovely people here supporting and

sharing things that work or dont ......There are some

doctors in the archives that know how to handle and

remove implants properly. How long has it been since

yours were removed?

Hugs N Prayers ~

You must have all that mass removed from your breast. Obviously your

implants were not correctly removed. Where are you? Who removed them?

I would have surgery to remove the capsules and any questionable

surrounding tissue.

I would guess this is why you got the infection.

Sorry you are still so sick...

Hopefully you can have those removed and began to feel better.

Oh Melisa- I'm so sorry to hear about all the problems that you are

having and that you are still feeling so sick even after your

explant. First of all, they need to get that infection under control

for you. I know you said that it is antibiotic resistant, but there

has to be a way that it can be treated. What plan of action did your

doctor give you in order to get it treated? I'm sure he/she didn't

send you home with no plan of action. Second, you need to get those

capsules removed. They will cause you nothing but heartache and grief

for the rest of your life if you don't have them removed. Yes, it is

possible that the capsule is giving you all these problems, it is

probably filled with bacteria and fungus from your implant. This

group has a list of plastic surgeons (look under " files " ) that are

skilled in taking out capsules and can help you out. Please take a

look at the list and see if you can find one in your area. You might

have to travel a bit, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Please stay with the group, these are wonderful ladies who can help

answer questions and support you through this. So many of us are

sick, I know how difficult it is. I'm just so sorry.

Melisa, You do need to have your capsules removed by someone who knows what they're doing . . . Very, very important! You'll likely need to do some serious detoxing and rebuilding of your immune system. . . Our archives are full of information . . . And our ladies are here to share their experiences with you . . . The good news is that you can get your life back - even if you'll never be as healthy as you once were. . . (Hopefully you'll be 100% though) . . . Diet is extremely important . . . I recommend "The Maker's Diet". Not just for menu info, but for info about how important good nutrition is. You would probably benefit from Caprylic Acid and/or Mycoplex by Precision Herbs to help you clear some of the bacteria from your implants. Hugs and prayers, Rogene

Many blessings to all who have experienced this !

I was implanted by Dr.Borsand in sdale, Az

when I was 18. He did a revision surgery one year later

on my left breast(to add more saline) and also

my explant. It was after the second surgery

that I lost my health. I told the ps for a long time

the implants were making me deathly ill. He didn't

want to take them out because he said I wouldn't be

happy. At my explant post op appointment he told me that

God works in mysterious ways. I will never forget those

words. Did he mean it was for the best that I had

a rupture and removal? Whatever he found had to be bad to

make my skin turn black where the salne was leaking from the

implant hole.

How much does a capsule removal cost?

Will insurance pay for it?

I want to finish healing!

Oh My....

Sounds to me like this doctor should be strung up by his cyhungas...

Yes, what he did was very bad, I'm sure.

You need to find a good surgeon to remove the capsules. Unfortunately

many of the doctors who are covered by insurance are not the ones who

know how to remove the implants or capsules correctly.

I took out a few loans to have my explant done by a doctor who knew

what they were doing... not the way I wanted to spend my money for the

next few years but it is so worth it for my health.

Look at the list of recommended doctors here. Read old posts of

people discussing their good surgeons.... If you are in AZ. I know at

least there are good ones in Texas and Colorado. ( I don't know about AZ)

Let us know how we can help.

Take care... you will get past this and have a chance to be healthy again.

Melisa, Removing the capsules varies from one physician to another. . . same with one insurance company to another. Depending on where you live, I would consider Dr. Huang in Denver, Dr. Feng in Ohio or Dr. Kolb in Alanta. . . There are some other good doctors listed in the archives. However, our women have had the most experience with these doctors. This is the first time I've heard of tissue turning black after contact with saline from implants. . . You would think he would have wanted to get the entire capsule out of there! It must have been really gross! Hugs and prayers, Rogene

Melisa,

Insurance may be unlikely to pay. It depends on who does it how much

it costs. Please be very, very careful whom you allow to remove the

capsules, as they should be removed carefully to avoid more

spillage. I would go to Denver or to Dallas.

Capsule removal should run about $5000 in Denver. And worth every dollar.

Dear : I am sorry you had a bad doctor like me. I have Kaiser and they only charge a couple hundered dollars to remove them. I had a doctor that gave me two different sizes. They do that so you go back to them. You see if you got financing through them and checked the box for insurance, the doctor gets paid by the finance company's insurance for return surgeries. It is an insurance fraud game that the government lets them get away with. The government gets tax revenue from what we pay the doctors, etc. That is why we lose in court to the doctors who are blatantly guilty of medical malpractice.melisagayl <mgmprincess1@...> wrote: I was implanted by Dr.Borsand in sdale, Azwhen I was 18.
