Guest guest
Hi there, My middle son had this and it went away with a change in diet from gf/cf to SCD without sugar, phenols, yeast or casin. I think it was the yeast. Hes not done any of that in 2 years. He is currently on mB12 shots, vitamin D3, multivitamins and minerals, digestive enzymes, probiotics, and is gfcfsf. The mB12 and the diet were both started only about a month ago. He is lately extremely oral - chewing his shirt like crazy, and is now biting people when frustrated. I received a call from his teacher this afternoon, and she told me that he bit her today and it broke skin! I was mortified. He's usually very sweet and gentle. Lately, though, we've been seeing a lot of frustration. I guess, in a way, that's a good sign - he's at least reacting to his environment. He used to be extremely passive.I'm wondering if the biting is due to the shots. I've heard that mouthing and playing with lips happens with the shots. I'm also looking for suggestions to help stop the biting. When he is yelled at and put in "time out" (crash mat, weighted blanket, away from others) for biting, he gets REALLY upset and cries. It doesn't stop the behavior from happening again, though. A chewy tube, maybe?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Guest guest
The biting can be due to MB12. I read that it can be due to nerves waking up. MB12 also causes yeast to increase, if there's a yeast problem. > > Hi, > My son is 3 1/2 years old, and non-verbal. Guest guest
Thank-you. Do you mean gluten/casein/etc... as opiates? I know my son had a casein and soy infraction on Saturday while my mom was watching him. I'm pretty sure he started the biting before then, though. Could this have made it worse? It also sounds like he may have a yeast build-up. for my son the underlying issue was opiate in his diet. removing them stopped the head banging in 24 hours. and impulses calmed. yeast can cause this as well as clostrida which is bactiera. Guest guest
One thing I've always done that works to calm down my son is to gently squeeze his wrists. I had heard this from an RDI group that Dr. Gutstein (founder of RDI) suggested this. It is very calming. I forget the explanation as to why it works, but it does. I do the gentle wrist squeeze and speak very quietly and calmly. It will usually work. > > I don't think being yelled at or put in time out is going to help > self-injury or aggression. Guest guest
Hi , sounds like something in the new diet is bothering him. Try giving only whole foods and cooking everything from scratch, this has been my saving grace. I would also stop the shots for now and give a lower oral dose (you can crush a lozenge and put it under his tongue and hold it there for a little bit), do this until you find out what it was causing the behavior. > > Hi, > My son is 3 1/2 years old, and non-verbal. Guest guest
yes if he had infraction and you KNOW he has opiates in our house that would make for a nightmear situation! I would love everything over for Vit E ect to see if there are more sources of infraction perhaps bringing it on before this, can you list what he is eating and drinking and perhaps we can help you. Guest guest
Hi,My mom brought some Jolly Pop microwave popcorn with her when she came over to watch the kids Saturday. She thought it was ok to give him, since it was corn. The bag didn't have ingredients listed, so I went to the website later that night. It stated that all of their products have soy and dairy in them. Argh!Right now is eating GFCFSF pancakes (Arrowhead Mills brand). I put some honey and some fruit (pureed apples, pears, or bananas) in it, along w/ some cinnamon. He will eat Jimmy Dean hot sausage, and mashed potatoes. I mix pureed veggies and meat into the mashed potatoes. I prepare them with chicken broth and Earth Balance soy free spread. For snacks, he'll eat rice and corn chex, rice snaps, and popcorn. The only thing he will drink is his hemp milk! I can only get a few small sips of water in him a day, and he'll drink no juice at all. Yup. He's a toughie! Thanks! yes if he had infraction and you KNOW he has opiates in our house that would make for a nightmear situation! Guest guest
corn chex have soy in them if you are working on soy free, they are listed as vit E on the box. most things you listed are yeast feeders. when you make pancakes add in nut flours and coconut flours and that will add more protien and make them less of a yeast feeder. you can get unsweetened hemp milk which can help. and then work on NON carb based snacks like veggies, or bacon, or pears or other non yeast feeding fruits to take down yeast. instead of honey use agave as it's not a high glycemic index sweetner, for your pureed fruits stick again to non yeast feeding berries and pears/. inthe mashed potatoes stick in garlic and coconut oil and that will help kill yeast while getting carbs and be healthier oils as well in the body to help with brain function.
