Guest guest
http://www.ncddr.org/rpp/hf/hfdw/mscis/map.html This web page has a map with links to info on the 16 spinal cord injury projects currently funded by the federal gov as main research /tx centers . At an asap confrence a couple years back ....Dr Milhorat brainstormed with some of us what to do , when the neurosurgeons handywork is good , but problems remain . Many times , finding a neurologist or primary care doctor with good understanding of our problems , is difficult . He sugested seeking a neurologist at one of the federal model tramatic brain injury or spinal cord injury centers ....and I called the one closest to my home , explaining I had acm and ms , and sought a doctor who could guide the care of both . I was assigned to a physiatrist , who specialises in the care of folks with ms and post polio syndrome ....but have seen another there too , when my doctor was out ill ...who had a great grasp too . ....I've posted before about the holestic health focus a rehabilitation physician takes ...its my belief that helps me optimise whats working well ....and find ways around the glitchy stuff as much as possible . I like too , that he sends me back to the neurosurgeon if he feels uncertian about anything ...it takes that burden of full decision making about whats a true probem , from my shoulders , lol . He also sends me to consultaions with specialists , if he feels they may be able to help shed light on problems ....then helps me decide what things I'd like to try . If your through surgery ..or not a good canidate ect ....but are having problems , I think this is an excelent resource to explore . in Paradise ( ps ...to all doing the reconnections project ...this is another good resource to bookmark , and sugest to members needing post op help too ......airlifeline and angel flights ect , will provide transportation if needed too ) .
