Guest guest
Hi , I am not a doctor but that seems like a very large amount of swelling. My husband had DVT deep vein thrombosis to the left leg in august and his leg became twice it's size and the bottom of his foot turned blackish purple. You really should call his doctor because blood clots after surgery are not uncommon. I just don't know about the abdomen swelling. Guest guest
Hi Karin: Welcome. Two things come to mind, and I think a simple call back to the surgeon will help ease your mind or, at least, answer your question. First, it is common after abdominal surgery, to have distension caused by gas. Could this be the swelling you speak of, or is there heat and/or redness involved? If it is not simple distension, then you might have a concern. Call anyway for peace of mind. Second, my husband recently had hernia surgery, which although quite different from a colon resection, can involve some of the same tissues and parts during surgery. His lower parts turned black and blue, much to his chagrin, but he was told to expect it. So, I'm thinking that it is probably normal. But let the surgeon know anyway. Hope this helps, Laurie > Hi, > > My dad had surgery (resection) last Monday, and they ended up > removing a large > polyp and a small cancerous growth.
