Guest guest
I thought I would join since I colon cancer survivor. I need help with the problems I am having. I was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in 4/1998. I had colon resection. Had chemo of 5-fu and leukovorin(don't know if I spelled that right). That combo didn't make me hardly sick at all. Kept all my hair. Only problem I had was alittle nausea the late evening of the chemo treatment. Fast forward to 5/2002 and I had chest x-ray and they noticed a spot on my right lung. Just when I thought I escaped. I had treatment of Camptosar and 5-fu I believe. I thought I was going to die just from the treatments alone. I finally finished 01/03. Since I finished my thinking processes, memory (short-term-names, numbers- things I use to remember like an elephant), have been getting progressively worse. Each day I seem to remember less and less. I can't hardly finish a sentence. I have to write everything down. Always have written some down. Now I have a paper in front of me and a pen to write down so I don't forget and just as soon as I reach for the pen and paper and get ready to write I forgot what I was going to write. I feel horrible all the time too. That's not counting the intestinal problems. Thank you for reading if you got this far. I am at my wit's end. They told me I was technically now terminal. My blood never showed the colon cancer. See I even forget the test for cancer. So they have no way of knowing whether it's gone or still there. I felt much better before this metastises. Anyone know about the long-term side effects and how long they will last? And if this is typical? Thanks so much for listening! I am so sorry it was so long.
