Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! I am catching up today so haven't read anything about your results but wanted to welcome you anyway - anyone with both brandy and wine in there name will always get along with me ;o) Dave New member Good morning. My name is , I am almost 27 and I was diagnosed in '94. My creatinine level went from 1.5 to 2.8 in under a year. I am on my way to see a new nephrologist today. My PCP (normal doc) doesn't know what to do with me anymore. I am on Catapress TTS patch for BP control, my baby sis told me about it, she also has IgA. I have been in a lot of pain since before Christmas, thought I had a kidney stone but it turns out there is nothing there, but I did find out that my right kidney is slowly shriveling up. I was doing somewhat ok until I got pregnant in '98 and that put a lot of strain on me. My son, , is almost 5 and he is my only child, I had my tubes tied at 21. has Down Syndrome and a bunch of other problems that go with it and I hope IgA is not one of them. Well my appointment is in 1 hour and it is raining on top of the snow right now so I think I should get ready to go. Guest guest
Good morning all; I joined your group yesterday. I'm pretty familiar with the SBD book, having read it at least 3 times. The first time I read it I was deep in the throes of an Atkins lifestyle and spent the whole time disparaging the differences. The second time I read it I began to see some of the ways SBD makes more sense than Atkins. I read it again after the holidays and have been incorporating the thinking into my routine. Now I'm ready to give it a try. I was very successful on Atkins and kept the weight off for over a year. But I have a hard time with the emphasis on trying to reduce carbs as much as possible for the rest of your life. Plus Atkins is becoming more and more like other commercial diets where they keep pushing "approved" food at a premium cost. I like whole foods that don't have a "diet-food" stigma attached to them. Anyway, like many people, the holidays did me in and I'm back on track. I would like to lose 20-25 pounds but more importantly, I want to stay healthy as I get older. And I feel better if I stay away from sugar and limit white flour. I look forward to the discussions and support. /diane
