Oh, great, Raena, and just when you thought you were over the plague

that has been causing you so much trouble. Well, I'll keep your

family in my prayers and hope that none of those dire possibilities

happen to .

So much for crossing fingers

came home from church and went straight to his bed. I

checked on him and he was lying on his side, shivering...temp of

almost 101.

Rats. I REALLY didn't want to get this bug...he gets high

fevers with regular bugs...I am very worried that we may end up in

the ER with high temp/seizures during his round since the other three

all topped 104 when they had this. I just talked to the pharmacist,

and we have to try to avoid giving him Tylenol, unless the Ibuprofen

just won't control the fever...tegretol makes tylenol metabolize

faster, and that's hard on the liver...would be okay for a couple of

doses, though, if we have to use it.

All prayers and good thoughts appreciated for the next 36 hours...it

could be rough.

Raena, I know this is rather late....but I hope he is

feeling better. Won't we be happy when summer

actually comes and stays and dries up some of these

horrible germs going around and around and around.

There has been someone sick or getting sick in our

house for months now, too. It is tiring.

Hope all is well with you....

Thanks, Tamara. He did indeed make it through, although Sunday was

pretty rough; I spent the entire day fighting to keep his temp under

104 (he has seizures and 104 puts kids in the higher risk zone for

seizures). We played the Ibuprofen/Tylenol rotation game with a

twist--tegretol increases the rate at which tylenol is metabolized,

and both are processed through the liver, so you have to watch how

much tylenol you give and make sure you space it okay with his

tegretol. Lotsa fun; twelve straight hours of 103+ temps despite the

meds, cool cloths, ice chips, and so on.

Yesterday was better, but he still ran a (much lower) fever---the

virus runs about 3 days, then it takes a couple of days to feel

rested and want to eat again. We're definitely on the downhill side

of it now.

And, at least now they've all had it.
