Guest guest
I know this subject came up over a month ago but due to delays in my scans getting sent to Dr. Batzdorf I have not been able to report what he has to say about it. I finally got to talk to him today and I am four months post op now. His advice to me was that he has no restrictions on any athletic activities. He advised me that anything I do should be taken slowly at first and that I should pay attention to any pain or discomfort in my neck or head. I have been Cycling actively for the last two months and I believe that it has been very beneficial in my recovery. Any surgeon(not just NSG) will tell you that exercise is usually an important part of recovery. So for anyone who is considering getting back in shape post-op, I would highly recommend it. Take it slow at first and build up slowly. I found that a few times, especially early on, I pushed too hard. I could feel discomfort in my head or neck afterwards, this was a sign to me to take it easier the next time. I believe that recreational exercise has even greater benefits to my mental heath. I can now do things that I could only dream of when I was symptomatic. The freedom I feel when riding my bike is amazing, it is another sign that I have been able to take my life back.
